They are frauds, not long ago in January I had surgery in my foot so doctors told me no hard labor such as working out or driving and working I called them to let them know my situation and go ahead to cancel but he froze the account instead so they can keep charging me every month I realize that when two weeks ago I lost my card in a parking lot and someone found it on the next day but my bank told me they were frauds activity on my card like payment from places I didn't know about. When they mention LA fitness I told them I cancelled long time ago. Today I called them to let them know, they told me if i don't have a receipt they won't refund me and the lady close the account over the phone again and hang up on me.
The gym itself is pretty clean and decent but the salesman we signed for a membership with was very pushy. La Fitness International LLC running personal training there seems to lack leadership and no one seems to know what's going on. After around a month we started training with them they decided to close the gym by June 30th 2017 which is very inconvenient and we can not get any answer when we can get a refund for our prepaid training - overall 1 star
One of the nicest la fitness I've been to
I've been going here for almost a year now and it's going downhill fast. The rates you pay are absurd for a dirty gym, old equipment, no wifi, limited space and equipment that you can't use unless you pay even more to get a personal trainer from them. No space to do stretching/abs unless you'd like to be physically stepped over by people exiting from the racquetball court, which is great. The staff is incredibly rude. If you're not an attractive girl using the personal trainers, you will get made fun of and judged by the trainers (pretty obvious from the looks on their faces while they are training other people.) Oh, and if you try to negotiate a better price with them, they talk you in circles and try to make you look stupid, when really they are just terrible salesman and are losing customers left and right.
I have been going to this gym for years. Things have changed in the past few months with new management and a better direction. Making it the club I fell in love with so many years ago.
I'm not sure about all the AC and heat problems the others have described, I've always felt that the temperature is more than accurate for me. While this isn't the nicest gym I've ever been too, it certainly isn't the worse. Only in the evenings after work is it crowded, which makes it a perfect place to get in and get out.
I've never seen broken equipment, nor have I been bothered by employees trying to upswell me on other things. It's a decent gym. I've been to the Mechanicsburg, York, and Warminster locations, and the 4 of them are all pretty much the same, albeit the Mechanicsburg gym always seems to have a lot of people in it.
To sum it up, LA Fitness in Harrisburg is better than Planet Fitness in Harrisburg, and not as nice as the Golds Gym, but for the price point and equipment available - I'm quite happy with it.
