Great place to eat. Sit down, drive through, or carry out. Parking on the drive and street side. Some outdoor seating, weather permitting.
They work hard to get your food ready, just the way you like it. They offer an ice cream cone while you wait. And best of all they are friendly and it doesn't take long and they call you by name when you walk through the door.

Love the cheeseburgers and the friendly service. The owner checks frequently to make sure you've got what you ordered and everything is to your satisfaction. It's like going to eat with a family member, possibly your favorite uncle, and there is always free soft serve ice cream to top off the meal. The staff is always helpful and welcoming following the lead of the owner.

The chili, ice cream, and fries weren't unusual but were good. I thought the burgers were especially delicious. Everything was fresh and the service was excellent. The food was brought to our table and our drinks were refilled. The manager checked with us that we were enjoying the food. Despite the name, you are able to dine in, although the dining room is quite small and there didn't appear to be a public restroom. Would definitely go there again!

Recently ate at J's with a group of friends while we were visiting Emporia. We had a wonderful experience. Food was good but the staff and owner were the stars. Best customer service experience I've had in a long time.

Best burgers in the area. Any time I am craving a good burger, this is where I go. They have the best burgers in the entire area! The staff is wonderful and friendly.

I have been eating at J's for over 20 years. Absolutely great burgers. Food is always quality and service is top notch every time. It's not big, and can get crowded at lunch time, but there's seating outside when it's nice, or you can take it to go and head to one of the parks just down the road. A must-stop if you're traveling through Emporia and looking for a good local place.

Super friendly staff!!! I just wish the food was as amazing

Total dive though. It doesn't appear very clean, but I can't tell if that's because of how outdated the interior is or because it's truly not clean. The fryers look gross.

A bit pricey for what you get though. They skimp on the bacon and cheese. The food honestly just takes like grease. Unless you slather your food in sauce it tastes just like it smells.like grease. I'm not against super greasy food eitherI actually love greasy food. There just isn't any flavor other than grease.

The fries are just like boring school cafeteria fries. If you don't like ketchup you're basically just eating textured grease. They should buy seasoned fries or something.

IDK I just wish this place was as good as everyone says. I feel like it's one of those "they've been here forever, it's great" local staples because it gives people nostalgia that it was here when they grew up here.

I used to work at J's while I was in college years ago and Jay is hands down the best boss I ever had! He gets what outstanding customer service is and his loyal customers only prove that! The food is delicious; burgers always fresh and never frozen. I miss this place and always recommend to anyone that visits Emporia!! You won't be disappointed!!!

Absolutely delicious👌 Good prices. Burger was surprisingly big. Curly fries were fresh. Bacon melted in your mouth. Customer service was amazing. And we even got free Ice Cream for dining in! Will definitely go back next time I go to Emporia. 5/5 for sure.

Great cheeseburger. Beats all the other fast food places. Could have had a leaf of lettuce rather than the six shredded pieces, though. Wonderful service. Little expensive, but you get free soft serve ice cream. Only two tables plus a few stools inside, but part of the charm. Drive thru service. Closed Sunday's.

Great little joint. And I do mean little. Two rows of stools and two tables. Barely enough room for you to walk around. Delicious food and great service from friendly wait staff. The owner and I assume his wife working the place. Very friendly and treat you well. Your drink glass never has a chance to go dry. The best part is free ice cream cone for dessert. Stop by and give them a try. You will be glad you did.

Just moved to Emporia and we were very impressed by this restaurant. The food was great, the prices were great and the customer service was simply amazing! Love the people there.
