I always enjoy a trip here. There is a great selection of work from all eras and geographical locations. I also enjoy the gardens and house. A great day out for all ages!

We recently attended the Winterlights display. The museum and staff were great, if even overly nicethe display for the price seemed excessive. There feels like there are more lights than there actually is and just when you think it's getting started you are directed to the "finale" tree, and while it is neat it is a tree with blue lights and that is all. My kids were disappointed. I don't feel it warranted the ticket price.

Amazing art. The Asian collection was really good. Lots of horse statues. Also an interactive exhibit for visitors to try their hand making Chinese letters. I also enjoyed the modern art selection, which has a nice variety of pieces.

The Indianapolis Museum of Art was amazing! With four floors to explore, I suggest coming well rested and perhaps with some coffee. I really enjoyed the modern art and the Picasso pieces. There is also a garden area to explore but it was too cold when I went. There were lots of friendly docents around to answer questions or provide more information about pieces. Also, plenty of places to sit down to rest or to spend time looking at a piece.

Huge place, varied art, lovely gardens. 3 stars instead of 5 for these reasons:
1. They made me carry my backpack purse on one shoulder, which causes shoulder pain. Thus, a backpack purse!
2. The toilets are so water efficient they do not provide a full flush. Yucky.
3. A member of staff in the modern art section was extremely intrusive, thus spoiling the experience.
4. She made me put my water bottle in my purse, even though security everywhere else was fine with it.
5. The food quality did not warrant the high price and the tables were dirty. We had to ask someone to clean them.

Was taken here for my birthday and loved every second of it. It has so many new creative pieces! Fascinating artwork overall &the first Thursday of every month is free to the public.

Since moving here in 2006 I've only walked through the whole museum once. I typically come here for the special movie events like B-Movie Bingo, the Internet Cat Video Festival, and Summer Nights Film Fest. Every now and then I'll visit a new exhibit and they are put together very well, but I love the effort they put into the special programming to celebrate the arts in unique ways.

The grounds are also an incredible outdoor experience. Try walking the whole trail around the lake! Overall this is a very fun place to visit with friends!

The museum is fantastic; there is truly something for everyone at this museum. The only reason why this museum did not get 5 stars is because of one of the guards. We were the only people in the Impressionist section and one guard insisted of following us around the section; its very unsettling. He was roughly two to three feet away from us the entire time and you can't really enjoy artwork or anything for that matter if someone is standing behind you gawking at you the entire time. All the other guards were very nice and pleasant to talk to.

I could literally spend all day here and not see everything. They have amazing artists (Warhol, Picasso, Rembrandt, Monet). The museum has several floors. It is very clean and well staffed. The cost is very good ($18 per person the day we went. Not sure if that is normal pricing or not.) I love this museum and I will be back!

Wonderful museum with tons to do and see. Art museums are always a bit mystical with nooks and crannies to explore and the feeling you are missing something you need to come back for. For two summers they've had a great local designed putt putt golf course / art exhibit. It's such a wonderful combination. The museum has a wide variety of art and styles to explore.

There is so much to see and experience here! The spring bulb exhibit is spectacular, as is the current Audubon exhibit. My only objection to this place is the price. It used to be free except for special exhibits. Now you can't go anywhere on the campus without tickets or a membership. Really inhibits participation by low income people. Free days are infrequent. Wish everyone could experience the inspiration of this place.

A great place to wonder around and look at the plants. So many flowers, trees, planters and much more.
Visiting the exhibits inside can be a Zen experience. It's so quiet.
The IMA has so much going on all the time. Education for Adults and Children not to mention the cultural importance. It is well worth the price of admission, or membership if you like.
The Spring Flowers alone are worth it. They are a must see!

Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area. The general admission price was a little more than I anticipated but you can easily spend a few hours checking everything out if you've never been as the place is huge. We probably saw 2/3 of the museum and spent two hours there and didn't even get to see the gardens.

Being familiar with the Chicago Art Institute, this place holds its own. Really enjoyed the educational hands on activities. Learned very fascinating things about art never imagined. The food court needs major help. If the food court was just a little decent, would have given this impressive facility a perfect score.

Fantastic art museum no matter your artistic background. Great mix of renaissance art,early American art, classical, and contemporary, paintings, sculptures and more. Can easily spend 5+ hours in there. Also has a few interactive exhibits explaining the science behind the art. An unexpected Indy gem.
