As a business traveler it is mandatory that hotels do a good job of providing receipts. It is also much more convenient to receive receipts by email so I can process business expenses. The Hyatt is 0 for 6 on meeting its promise to email receipts over the past several months. Then I have to call 4 and 5 times to get them to provide the receipt. Hyatt front desk service really needs to improve.
Where do I begin? Booked a 3 night stay for a conference with a company credit card.
1. They asked for a card for incidentals so I gave them my personal card. Right away a pending charge appeared for the hotel stay. I inquired and they said it's just because it's linked to the room with the company card and it will go away.
2. Room was clean and modern. However, there was a chair missing and the safe was closed and locked. I asked for the safe to be reset and they said they would send engineering. I also asked for a couple of extra towels and wash cloths.
3. The next day, the safe was still not reset. I left a note and a tip for housekeeping to please leave the items I asked for yesterday along with resetting the safe so I could use it. When I returned for the day at 3:30 pm, Housekeeping had not even been to my room. I stopped at the front desk on my way out for dinner and asked for housekeeping to go to my room. I was told they were really busy even though I hardly saw that cart move in the hallway. I returned that night and the safe was still not reset.
4. The following day, the room was serviced by housekeeping by the time I had returned at 12:00. Safe still not reset. I ordered a pot of coffee, cream and 2 cups later in the night. They delivered everything but the cups and then asked if I needed them. She returned with the cups and said I had to pay cash because there was no credit on my room. I told her there is a card on file and she can go back and figure it out. I then called the front desk and they confirmed there was a card on file. Room service called back to say it worked when they ran it again.
5. The next day I checked out. I confirmed the room charge was on the company card and the incidentals were on my personal card. They confirmed that. The day after I returned, the hotel was contacted and they said my personal card was used for the room and incidental charges. We were transferred to a supervisor and had to leave a message. So waiting to hear back tomorrow.
6. They also overbooked the hotel and tried turning away company members who were all booked with us. They bought the adjoining hotel earlier in the week and tried to move people over to there.
WHAT AN AWFUL EXPERIENCE
It was clean, everything provided, decent gym and small pool. There's a nice balcony patio bar. Bar downstairs with decent beer selection. However, breakfast isn't included. Also parking isn't free. They validate it at a discount rate, but as I understood it, the garage rate was charged to your room.
Stayed here for a conference. Staff and amenities were very comfortable. Very good mattress and, as a side/belly sleeper, terrible pillows; the pillows are made of the faux down material and very fluffy. Bring your own pillow if you are a belly sleeper. Otherwise there is plenty of room for your stuff and a fridge and safe for your special storage needs. The light under the bed that's motion activated is a very nice touch.
We stayed on the 19th floor and had a wonderful view of the city and the river. The newly renovated rooms with hardwood floors are simply lovely. It felt luxurious for this price point. The beds were very comfy and the room was clean. Bathroom is very modern and chic.
Check in was very simple and friendly. There's a Starbucks right downstairs. Kids loved the pool but the hot tub wasn't open. That area needs some updating but we had fun swimming. Parking ticket was validated and we paid nothing. Very happy with our stay and will be visiting again!
Amazing room. Great location. Ideal for a concert at Blue Cross Arena. Air conditioning didn't work properly and they started doing some sawing/drilling at 8am that preempted my sleep.
Great ameneties and comfortable bed. Very clean and easy to get to. Perfect spot near the convention center. At times could hear outside walls though. Would recommend.
Location was fine if you're in your car although there is construction currently. There were people begging for money right outside the main entrance which was uncomfortable for walking. Staff is friendly, rooms are clean, more toiletries options than most hotels, great towels, comfortable beds, and neat lighting and no slam drawers. The clocks were wrong in our room but there was a clock shown through the bathroom mirror which was neat. I heard other guets complain about the parking garage and that the elevator wasn't clearly marked. There were also fireworks late last night but not the hotels fault. Nice breakfast buffet but a little pricey. Bar was nice. Thank you!
Had a newly remodeled room which was quite nice. The lounge want serving food because the kitchen is being remodeled, so that was a bummer. All in all it was a good place to stay. 1 major downside is the elevator speed. If it is busy and you are on a high floor it can take a long time to get up and back down. I had to run up to my room on the 21st floor and it took 21 minutes to go up and down. It was a Saturday morning and very busy but we literally stopped at every floor.
Check in (without a reservation) was a bit long and tedious. Rooms were very cleaned and came with a modern looking TV which is not always a guarantee. In hotel Starbucks was useful but took a while to get anything on a Sunday morning.
The location was great, within walking distance to where I needed to go. The hotel was under renovations which was a bit inconvenient. The room looked newly redone in a nice clean modern design, but the bed, couch, and linens were firm/ felt low quality and not very comfortable. The room size was good and included a mini fridge and coffee maker (makes 12 oz paper cup at a time). Nice big TV and lots of plugs and charging stations. The bathroom had a walk-in shower and lighted mirror with a digital clock in it. However, the bathroom door has frosted glass and the clock in the mirror shines very bright so there is a blue glow from the bathroom area at night. The floor is a laminate of sorts which had its pros and cons. It makes the room feel cleaner but the floor is cold and doesn't mask noise like carpet. We happened to have small children with us and it's not super kid friendly but we made it work. I liked the online check-in and check-out process, that was helpful. You pay for parking (on your bill) and due to renovations going on, room service options were limited. I would recommend this hotel if you are traveling for business. However, with a few of the inconveniences from the renovations I thought the price a bit high.
Hotel is currently under renovation so things are a little rough. Rooms are definitely nice and have a modern aesthetic but a little noisy as the floors are not carpeted. Overall the stay was good and and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I'm sure once the renovations are finished the rest will be very nice.
Great location in downtown Rochester. They are going through a multi-million dollar renovation which will modernize the hotel look and feel. Lots of amenities and a great spot for large events. The hotel will now have a local Starbucks and latter in summer will feature Morton's Steakhouse restaurant.
Overall a terrible experience. I just as at this hotel for a conference for 2 nights and 3 days. We arrived at the hotel and we were immediately confused as to how to enter and eventually found a temporary door which led us through an active construction zone to get to the front desk. The attendant was awesome and helped us out a lot. When I arrived at my room I found that nothing worked as it should as the tv didn't work, the heating and cooling system didn't work, and the water was only cold. I was then switched to another room which worked great until I was awoken at 7 am by construction crews in the room above me. This set the tempo for the entire conference in which all that was heard was jack hammers and saws and everything else. The staff was apologetic but it was just poorly planned overall. I still question how someone that might use a wheel chair or other physical impairment could have even gotten in the hotel. One of the elevators consistently broke down over the course of the conference which had you holding your breath as you travelled over 15 floors to get where you were going. I understand the hotel is under construction and this is what happens but this could have been planned better, and I feel bad for the conference committee as they were blindsided by this whole thing. I would not recommend staying here until they have some time to get this whole thing figured out. The staff though was nice and apologetic but overall it was just plain bad.
Great location, walking distance to many places. Beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was very small, but water pressure was good and lots of hot water. Room service knocked on our door at 9 am when checkout wasn't until 11.
