BEWARE! Zero stars for Howard Johnson's in Liberty if I could. I booked two nights with them, then had a change of plans and tried to cancel the second night at 9 a.m. the day before--30 hours before check-in time for the second night. Not only did they refuse to cancel, but the desk clerks and the manager were rude, belligerent, and pedantic. I don't need a lecture about policies, I need a hotel that is accommodating and friendly to its customers. Too bad for them--I'm relocating to the area and will not use them again or recommend them to family, friends, and new colleagues.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!!!! If I could give it zero stars I would. Absolutely disgusting hotel, how it passed inspection completely beats me. Room was dusty and dirty, looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years, the heater released a horrible awful smell when turned on, one of the lamps was broken, the shower spat out BROWN WATER, we stayed for 2 nights and no one came to clean our room the second day and replenish the towels, etc. I told the front desk how no one cleaned our room and the old woman took no responsibility and instead blamed it on me that I must have put the 'do not disturb' sign on the doorknob.. NO I DIDNT! I didn't even know we had a do not disturb sign in the room. I also told the lady about our heater how it's releasing an awful smell and in response she tells me that it's not even cold, how we don't need the heater on Excuse me??? Who are you to tell me when I feel cold or not!?!?
The staff was absolutely TERRIBLE, cheap very cheap and stingy people. When we demanded a full refund for our terrible experience they told us the most they could do was refund us $20 for the "A.C." not working. We were charged $150 per night for this horrible horrible stay and the most they could give us was $20! How insulting. The "owner" refused to listen to any of our complaints and actually had the audacity to tell us we were liars when we informed him of the brown water that spat out of the shower head. Why would we lie about that? I actually screamed when that water came out. He was completely disrespectful and so unreasonable, wouldn't listen to a word we said. His whole argument was how we should have left after the first night and not stayed the 2 nights and over and over again we tried to explain that all of this didn't happen in just one night, it happened over the course of 2 days! In fact, we needed to stay a 3rd night but refused to spend one more night in that dingy place so we actually drove 30 minutes farther way from the concert we came for to another hotel we found last minute.
THIS PLACE IS ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. I AM WARNING YOU NOW DO NOT EVER STAY HERE!!!!!
The guy from the front desk came in to my room with no permission or knocking on the door asking me why I am making noise
Nasty, dirty, bug ridden, doors don't lock, don"t speak English, mold in shower, dirt on bed, filthy under and behind nightstand, no heat, no cool, littered parking lot, littered hallway, no ice, toilet encased in dirt, electric plugs not working, no toilet paper etc. I could go on and on but I just thought this would get my point across, do not ,at any cost, stay here, you would be endangering your life
Arrived during the day and the male and female managers were the worse ever. They are constantly screaming at each other infront of the guests, staff, whoever. The other thing that sucked about this place was the horrible breakfast. Would it hurt them to spend a few bucks on a decent breakfast. How about updated decor? I started to leave but had already dragged all my stuff out of the car and was feeling lazy. The rooms were clean but hasn't been updated in years. Nothing extra just a cheap room. That's it. Why not take some pride in the darn place? Its a shame. Breakfast was horrible. If I have to go to Liberty again I'm staying somewhere else.
