Just off of the Indiana toll road, this hotel isn't in a bad location. Food options are a bit of a drive into town. Overall average holiday inn express.

This location is not the newest or even newly updated; however, it is very well maintained. The main reason for the high rating is the staff. Colletta, at the front desk, is the best. Besides providing a warm greeting, she was friendly, professional and informativedefinitely best face forward to the public. Additionally, each member of staff we encountered was polite and helpful. Our stay was a last minute decision, the result of a key breaking off in a deadbolt at home. The staff at this property helped turn a stressful situation into a pleasant experience.

I've stayed at over 10 different Holiday Inn Expresses in the last year for work purposes. The Express in Portage ranks the lowest on overall satisfaction. The rooms could use updating. Beds, old loud ac/heat units, carpet, etc. With all of this being said it does the trick for the price and location for my purpose in Portage.

Very clean room. Like having refrigerator and microwave in room, although didn't use microwave. Workout room was good. Breakfast was very good with lots of variety and kept stocked despite many eating. Was able to run just fan which helped me sleep.

Rooms are clean but not very sound proof. You can hear every movement from the hall or other rooms. Breakfast is good. Staff is accommodating. They were willing to move us to a new room on the top floor to assist with the noise.

Don't bother with this hotel. Nothing but a run around. The people that answer the phone don't know any answers to your questions and refer you to the general manager who is never actually there. The general manager is immature and; frankly, a joke. The general manager Laurie supposedly goes to different Holiday Inn locations but don't ever expect her to be at Portage when you call cause for the past few months when we called she was not. We even tried leaving her messages when she wasn't physically in Portage-but those messages went unanswered.

When I finally did get ahold of the GM;Laurie, she sounded annoyed, irritated, immature and bothered to try to help me for my request to book rooms. She even laughed about it and when I asked for the corporate phone # to express my concerns of lackings to do with customer service and operational needs Laurie would not provide the ph# and she even hung up on me. This was after she told me she wouldn't accommodate our room bookings and that I should look into other hotels and that there was a "bacon fest" coming to town that the hotel had to sort of reserve rooms for .Needless to say the hotel will be losing our business and I will let everyone I know not to do business with them as the management is rude and extremley unprofessional.

I have many years of experience in customer service and I'm not sure where the management here learned that it is correct to hang up on the customers

Meeting rooms are nice and clean as are the rest rooms. The staff is willing to help if you need it.

We stayed here with our two dogs, a toddler, my husband and myself. Upon check in, the two ladies upfront, Collette being one of them, were very sweet. She called after we got settled to see how our room was. The room was clean and pretty quiet. The breakfast was great! We had been traveling from Anchorage in our SUV, and many of the places we got breakfast weren't cooked well or tasted off. This was the best breakfast we'd had in a long time! The warm cinnamon rolls were a big hit with my boys! We were also able to take breakfast up to our room, which is convenient for us with our two dogs needing to be in the room. Thank you for the stay!

Under new management the place looks alright. It's a comfortable place to stay with the pool and usually cooperative guests. Eight off the toll road which is convenient.
