Nice little cozy hotel. Clean beautiful patio area to relax. Pretty standard breakfast stuff.

Friendly staff, clean rooms, modern, but be prepared to take multiple different stairs to get to your room. We were unable to take the luggage cart more than 15 feet from the elevator before being stopped by stairs.

This HIE is located in a nice and quiet spot at the far end of Canary Row. It offers plenty of parking and clean rooms+amenities with free wifi. Should you wake up early enough, they offer a full variety breakfast though so options are a bit rough (The gravy biscuits felt like they had a titanium shell.) The only true downside to this location is the hollow pathways lining each floor. You're guaranteed to hear every guest walk by as well as excited kids tromping early in the morning. Finally, the 12pm checkout is gratuitous​ if you've had a long night and want to take it slow.

Short walk to aquarium and lots of restaurants. Good sized rooms. Booked a room for 4 but only got 3 towels. Based on the towel rack only having space for 3, I think 3 towels is standard so please be forewarned if you have a family of 4. Breakfast is not great but adequate. Premade "omelets"and sausage patties, cereal, yogurt, muffins, etc.

The owner and staff were super friendly. Rooms are very clean and spacious. The location is close to Cannery Row and the Aquaruim. For a person who's lived in various 4 star hotels for most of last year working in different states, I can say this was one of the better places I've stayed in. Made my short vacation very enjoyable. Will definitely return. Thank you!

Been staying here the last 4 or 5 years alternating with The Otter Inn for a little bit. Hands down the best for your money right off Cannery Row. The walls are thick, the rooms are clean and the WiFi is pretty fast. The only downside is the parking situation is rough if you have a midsize or larger. If you get in early or on an off peak day you will be fine.

Very nice hotel at a good price for the location. Walking distance to Cannery Row and the beach and other areas of interest. Free got breakfast in the mornings, in the lobby. Free coffee all the time in the lobby. Property is on the older side. Only has one elevator, which rattles. You can hear footsteps and voices from the outdoor hallways. But overall, the rooms and public spaces have been very nicely renovated. The rooms are large and clean and everything inside is modern and new. Free parking for guests, which is huge for this neighborhood. Front desk staff was courteous and friendly. No fitness room. No pool or spa, but the Pacific Ocean is right there.

Great price for the area. Breakfast included and provides a good selection. Rooms were clean and spacious. I agree about the soundproofing. I was unable to get a top floor room (which I prefer) to minimize the loud footsteps some people have a tendency to create along with the road noise outside, Maybe bring earplugs next time..
Also no microwave. I didn't need it for my stay but i can see where it would come in handy for those with doggy bags and staying a week.
The stairs didn't inconvenience myself but I can see how it can prove daunting for some when lugging suitcases. The staff was friendly and also let me park my car way ahead of checkin so that I could walk around. I would come back knowing what to expect now.response / report this review -

The room was bigger then expected and they had been recently updated but they did nothing about the noise. It is a old hotel that has no sound proofing at all. The people above us where just walking across the room but it would sound like a dance party was going on. If someone walked passed your room and was talking you thought they where inside your room. Typical low quality breakfast. Free parking was nice and close to downtown.

We had a very pleasant stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Cannery Row. The staff was very helpful and even let us park in the garage far before check-in so we could make the 10 minute walk to the aquarium. The rooms were clean and well accommodated, and the checkout process was extremely quick and hassle free. I would definitely stay here again on my next visit to Monterey.
