The wine was great, atmosphere was wonderful! But the staff was rude and I felt like my tasting were rushed and not very informative!
Huge Winery on top the hill looking over the lake! We did a tasting outside under a tent, then went inside to look around in the store. During the tasting they offer 2 wines each go around and you simply pick which of the two you want to try. That makes it simple for guys like me who don't know what to pick haha
What a beautiful place. The view was fantastic. Good wines and knowledgeable tasting room personnel.
The wine is fantastic! Especially their rieslings. And the ambience and architecture are also excellent. their staff is super friendly!
This is likely one of my favorite wineries. From the first time I went here 4 years ago to today, it's just as enjoyable and beautiful.
Char was really nice and helpful. I probably don't have as high of expectations as somebut still really nice scenery and facility
one of my favorite wineries, nothing not to like at Heron Hill
From the Keuka Lake trail literature, Heron Hill was a high flier in terms of the language used, and it gave us some hope that the wines would be inspired and exceptional in some way. Unfortunately their offerings were fairly run-of-the-mill and their wines were plagued by technical faults (true faults or poor winemaking; maybe both in some cases). Their facility, while beautiful, was plagued by fruit flies, and the senior staff seemed more occupied with the gift shop than the tasting room. In all likelihood, we would not revisit this producer.
Went for a tasting with my boyfriend last week and have never felt more insulted at a winery. The facility is beautiful, the wine is great, but we had a very pompas and masoginisitc staff member. He only catered the tasting toward my bf, who doesn't drink wine, and then bluntly asked for a tip.. IF (big chance I won't) I ever go back, I will ask for someone other than him!
REVIEW EDIT: Heron Hill responded quickly to our review and offered us a chance to revisit with a private one-on-one tasting. We had Nicolette as our server and wow- what a difference. We have been to many many tastings at a large variety of wineries and this one was one of the best experiences yet. Her knowledge, understanding and personal recommendations were not only genuine but respectable. She listened to what we liked, and discussed with us each wine we inquired about. Nicolette's suggestions were not only appreciated but we could tell she was actually listening to us and our preferences. We ended the tasting with some dessert wines (outstanding, by the way!) and a quick visit to the top of the tour. It was a beautiful and wonderful experience, even though it was very windy and deceivingly cold outside with all of the sunshine. Thank you Nicolette for accommodating us on such short notice and giving us a truly amazing experience.*While we have never had a poor experience in previous years or visits to Heron Hill; our most recent visit left a "very bad taste in our mouth". Our server Ron was rude, arrogant and held zero consideration in our group. Once we shared we preferred sweet wines, especially ice wines, he was disgusted, made remarks about it, and in the end refused to serve us the sweet wines on the tasting list and brought back very dry options even after we asked to switch back to trying the remaining sweet options. I understand you sell several dessert wine options. Unfortunately we were unable to inquire, upgrade our tasting to include, or purchase any of those options. As long as people like Ron work at your establishment, this family will not be returning. It is sad that people are given less service, all due to their wine tasting preference. On a better note, the pizza salad food pairing option was very good and gave much better customer service than Ron.*
