Their signature sauces and specials are amazing. We ordered one appetizer and one main dish for two people and we still walked out with some food. Our waiter Lupe was extremely nice and attentive. My drink was strong. We will definitly be going back when we are in town! Thank you for a great experience!
Good service and steaks. I had the flat iron which was very tender and flavorful however the potatoes and kale that came with it were too heavily salted. Friends had the filet mignon which sat on a bed of tart cranberry sauce which we all agreed could have been toned down to let the steak shine through. Skillet brownie was chocolate heaven though!
I love chicken vesuvio! It is one of my favorite meals. This did not disappoint. My husband ordered the steak special. It was cooked perfectly and the meal itself looked very appetizing. Dessert was our personal favorite tiramasu. It had the perfect amount of moisture but lacked more espresso flavor. Overall delicious but we like the combo of flavors.
One of the best dining experiences we've ever had. From the moment we walked in we were treated with great customer service. Steve was amazing and provided us with a wonderful dining experience. The highlight of our night was the attendant John. He's definitely one of our new best friends. This man made our night so fun and so special. He was a pleasure to talk to and we look forward to visiting with him again next time we come back. We hope you enjoyed your dinner sir. God bless!! Thank you everyone for the well wishes and prayers for everyone back home in Texas dealing with the aftermath of hurricane Harvey.
We have been here Multiple times and the food and service are AMAZING!!
The staff is Second to none ! Carlos our waiter was OUTSTANDING.
A must go if u are in the area !!
An institution in Chicago, food superb, and staff is both helpful and professional. Few places offer more quality memorable experiences. The photos are nothing short of irreplaceable, of everything from Joe and Marilyn to the most recent '16 World Series Championship. Service is very fast for such high quality vitals, but If an even quicker, less expensive and more casual fare is your desire, then the grill and bar is the place, priced at popular terms. Still get the same quality and atmosphere. Definitely a don't miss if you haven't spent much time in Chicago, and a hangout for those that have
The service was great.
I got the 18oz Dry Aged Ribeye and had the truffle butter added. They are true to the preparation, med-rare was perfect. I did try a few bites of just the steak before spreading the butter across, to be sure it was worth it and that it enhanced the flavor, the steak was substantially better with the butter. Work the $3. Be aware, you lose about 3oz of weight to the Bone In, I considered getting the wet aged one just so I could have more meat, but the server convinced me that the dry aged was worth it, and I have no regrets.
For my side I got the twice baked potato, I'm not a fan of sour cream, and I thought I'd be okay since it's baked in and not added as a topping. It was still pretty good but I didn't eat it all. If you like sour cream though, it's money.
The brownie Skillet was better than I expected. The first few bites the brownie is a bit of that bitter chocolate flavor, but mixed with the ice cream it was perfect. The brownie was fully cooked, but nice and gooey.
The Cheesecake was great. I still haven't had any Cheesecake that tops The Gage, but this is a pretty close second.
I went here with a group of 7. We had reserved a table, and got seated once everyone arrived (they wouldn't seat us until the party was there). The food was VERY expensive, and while I can certainly appreciate that a good steak isn't cheap - $50+ dollars for one seems a bit excessive. The experience was OK, and the drink selection was on par with what you'd expect from a place like this. Not a lot of beer selection, local or domestic. The liquors weren't bad, and they had a few nice scotch whiskeys. The waiter was attentive, and the staff treated us OK. I can't say I'd ever go here on my own if it wasn't a work function because the prices were equivalent to what I've seen at Morton's or Ruth's Chris - and I would say those have a better atmosphere and style than Harry Caray's. It's a Chicago icon, so the name is what you're paying for, but I feel like we got what we expected, nothing more. They didn't wow me.
Excellent burgers, salads and sides. Very good steak and pizza. Very friendly and competent service. This lace has a bar with dining tables and a restaurant in the same building.
Hands down the best steak I've ever had.
Our waiter Manny was Awesome. He brought out all the cuts of meat and explained everything about them. First class service and atmosphere.
The server, Fernando, and helper, Alex, were great. The manager took action when we let him know we were on vacation from out of town and staying next door at the Hotel Chicago. His hostess, Hope, was harsh and came across as being racist. She was rude to me when I asked her if I could sit at a different empty table and she said "No! If you don't like this one you can sit at the bar". The manager addressed the situation. The food was great minus the hostess, Hope. I hope she has better days and treats people better.
We had our rehearsal dinner in a private room upstairs. The management was easy to work with and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. The private rooms have so much character, and create a welcoming atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious. They have a separate kitchen for private events, so even though it was very busy Friday evening, our food came out on-time.
The good here is AMAZING! and coming from New York, this place is not as expensive as one would expect from such an upscale steakhouse (44 bucks for a 3 course meal with filet minion!?). The staff is friendly, lively, and very knowledgeable about the various cuts and preparation for their steaks and take the time to explain everything to you. The food was cooked to perfection and was absolutely delicious. I would definitely recommend reservations as the place can get packed especially in the evenings. But it is definitely worth the wait.
