This hotel is clean and it’s located in a convenient location. However, the interior and exterior walls are paper thin and they allow a lot of highway noise inside. Water pressure on the 5th floor was very low as well.
Location is very convenient to the highway but close enough to still walks everwhere. The hotel itself is simple and clean. Would stay again.
A good value, newer hotel, friendly staff.
The rooms were very nice and clean. Breakfast was served in the morning.
A nice older Hampton Inn property with good, friendly, customer service. Close to the freeways and very centrally located. They have a shuttle van service which will do pickup/dropoff service to nearby reataurants. A drive through Starbucks is about 3 minutes drive down the road and at 4 AM it's about a 10-12 minute drive to Charleston's Yeager airport.
Driving from Yorktown VA to Chicago IL and found this place while driving, huge factor for me is breakfast, called and booked. Shuttle driver there is best in world he will take you anywhere, food, drinks, sightseeing anywhere. Seriously best driver ever. Gave us standup recommendations. Front desk staff was welcoming and breakfast was amazing! Gym needs help, pool is heated and nice, all in all would love to stay here again! Thanks for a great night
Quick and easy access. Walking distance to civic center and shopping. Rooms are a little dark and outdated, but renovations are happening now. Bed was comfortable, clean, and accessible.
I had a nice night sleep but I'm good breakfast in the morning what more could you ask
The property is an older property, but the room wasn't bad. The water smelled a bit (not uncommon for the area), but it was the experience of smelling urine in the hallway that was first explained as a special needs guest who had an accident, then as a guest who had a stroke. (so which was it?) And the resolution was spraying the hallway with Airwick and the comment "we'll wash the carpet in the morning". SERIOUSLY!?! How about the night janitor run the rug-doctor NOW! Go one block over to the Courtyard Marriott (also has the Starbucks across the parking lot).
We heard the rush of water through the pipes EVERY TIME that someone flushed a toilet. Not a faint background noise, but loud like when you dump a bucket of water.
Fantastic service, delicious food (warm cookies at night), coffee water and tea available as needed, and comfortable room. Had to stay for two weeks for a business trip so the only downside was a lack of laundry facilities. Would definitely stay again if I needed to!
THE ABSOLUTE BEST BREAKFAST IN TOWN, SUPER CLEAN ROOMS AND STRUCTURE, FRIENDLY STAFF AND WITHIN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO ANY ACCOMMODATION NEEDED OR WANTED!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! 👍🏻
I had one of the smaller rooms available, which was very nice. The room service and the front desk was also very nice people. I will definitely be back for another visit soon. Unlike most hotels or inns you're usually a number, but here they make you feel like as if you're right at home.
I want to provide feedback on how rude management was at the Charleston-Downtown Hampton Inn. First of all, I had 130,000 Hilton Honor points and stayed at multiple Hilton properties which led me to be a "Gold" member and have a Hilton Grand Vacation ownership. I used 23,000 points to stay at Charleston, West Virginia for a nice night during my road trip. However, I was charged the full cost of the night. Normally, I would just call and the issue would be resolved. However, when I called the hotel, the manager, Vicky, accused me of selecting to pay in points AND money. Instead of helping me, she said that I owe the FULL rate of the hotel because it would cost 30,000 to stay there and not just 23,000 points. I don't know what her problem was because her explanation did not make sense. I kept arguing with her and she kept promising to look into the issue but SHE DOES NOT. She REFUSED to give me my full night refund until a whole week later when I called back everyday to argue. When I finally lost my temper and yelled at her over the phone, she FINALLY looked into the situation and told me that the computer system made an error the evening I stayed. She refunded my full night cost after 3 days. I don't know what her problem was, but I will NEVER stay at this hotel again. Hilton is lucky that I still have 100,000 points to kill. I am so UPSET. I am switching to Marriott. Unacceptable Customer Service.
Hotel was modern and extremely clean. A quick 2 minute walk to the civic center for our concert. Decent hot and cold breakfast options.
The staff was very accommodating and friendly, they made sure my party of four had everything we needed. The rooms and other facilities were clean and well maintained. If I'm ever in the area again I will not hesitate to stay at this Hampton Inn.
Decent buffet breakfast. Nice room, clean and comfortable. Great pillows!
Overall all Hampton Inns are the same but there are little differences. This is just below average compared to others I've stayed in. There is no pantry to purchase items on site and only certain rooms have a refrigerator and microwave. It's not bad but it is below average for the chain.
Visited a friend. The rooms were nice. The lady at the front desk super sweet
Fourth floor. Staying multiple nights. Desk staff always courteous, helpful, and friendly. Some breakfast items available early for people like me that head out before the sun comes up.
Although there was the traditional indoor pool, chlorine smell, the overall experience was great. I stayed here both times I was in Charleston. This is also a nice place for high school sports teams to stay while in Charleston. The popcorn machine in the lobby was a nice treat, as well.
