As hostels go you couldn't get better. You will find some awesome gem people among other interesting types, but the place is clean, organised and well run. If you are looking for a bed to crash in at the end of the day with out the frills try it. (4 person female, premium shared).

Simply an amazing experience if you're looking for getting to know people from all over the world and having a good time. The hostel always has days activities such as guided tours (which some of them are free), mini shows, talks and group organization to go to local pubs and bars.
The place, the towel and the sheets are clean.
It's next to subways stations.
Good point out: bring your lock if you wanna keep your stuff inside the locker.

The place is great! It has a young style, is well decorated, has a large kitchen, a coffee shop, laundry machines, lockers for your luggage and places to meet new people. It is not expensive. Each bed has its ilumination and power plugs.

It is far from the touristic places, so you need to spend some time on the subway everyday. I couldn't figure out how the showers work by myself.

It's very very clean. Quiet hours are respected for the most part and the staff have been a class act all around. Location is more than decent for the price, having two metro lines within walking distance.

So I'll preface this with the fact that I've never stayed in a hostel before anywhere. It was a great experience, even with the annoying things that happened. (Someone else took my bunk and then they ended up forgetting to change the sheets.) It's in a great location, very affordable, and the staff are excellent. There was never an issue of not having a shower available or anything like that.

Lovely experience overall.

Great place to stay. I had the 4 bed premium door room. People there are friendly, travelers, and has a good social atmosphere. Washroom are clean and the room is clean too. Air conditioning is good. Location is good too. Lots of free tours and events.

The lack of a bar and the place being so big make getting to know people a little more difficult than in other hostels. Sign up for the tours and pub crawl to bridge that gap!

It's a very nice hostel in a good location and they offer a lot of activities for the guests. I'd stay here again.

The location and facilities within this hostel are brilliant- one street away from the subway. The only downside was they mixed up my booking and I had to stay in a coed dorm rather then single gender as booked. Still rating it 5 stars for price, included breakfast and facilities- best hostel I've been to in a long time - I will 100% only stay here when in NYC from now on!

The place is very near to central park. There are cheap eating places right outside the hostels. The rooms and bathrooms are clean and the staff are very friendly. It is not the same as the HI in Boston though. The vibe here was different but still, it's a great place!

Great hostel! It is much better than I expected. Bathrooms are clean and big, dorms as well. There is a super duper kitchen with 4 fridges, 6 cookers, microwave ovens, plates and everything you need. There is a restaurant too with nice food at very reasonable prices. And a laundry room! They organise activities - tours, some are for free, parties, comedy nights. Staff and guests are very friendly too!

Generally a poor experience.

I'm a wheelchair user and they put me on the top bunk. When I highlighted the obvious issue with that, they moved me. To a bunk that was already occupied. Finally they put me in a bunk that wasn't occupied and that I could physically get into, unfortunately the room was almost as far as possible from an accessible bathroom (seriously, there were only 2 rooms further away). The person assisting me found the whole situation very funny.

There was no wifi in the room, meaning if I wanted to contact my family, I had to do so sitting in the corridor.

The lift was temperamental at best, taking several minutes to reach certain floors, meaning I was at times stranded. Sunken patio, whilst lovely to look at isn't wheelchair accessible.

It seemed clean enough, although one of the rooms I was put in did smell like a mixture of banana and vomit.

Three stars because the rooms weren't dirty.

Although prices can be exorbitantly high in New York and living standards commonly pretty low, I found this Hostel to be surprisingly cheap and very clean. The bathroom and toilets were really nice, the buffet had a good breakfast and diner selection. The kitchen was also very tidy and was well equipped - there is a "theater" room (some nice sofas with a large TV) - there is also a pool table and some docking stations to charge your phone - also the personell was very kind. Bottom line: go there, you will like it if you are familiar with the concept of a hostel.

I stayed in hotel last year in March but this year I'm staying in the hostel. Its amazing! Fast WiFi, clean bathrooms, spacious common rooms and many more. I'll definitely visit this place again. It has accommodated us a team of over 70 delegates! Awesome.

I really liked staying here! I've stayed in several NYC hostels and this is my favorite one. It is beautiful on the inside, so many common rooms, a huge kitchen, a very huge dining area, bathrooms are clean, shower is hot, and lockers are offered. There is a cafe in the lobby that offers hot food, cold subs, coffee & tea, and so many mouthwatering desserts. The only thing I didn't like was they downgraded me from a 4 bed to an 8 bed, but didn't change the price (or give a refund). The first night I was alone, which is why they can keep 5 stars.
