Older but clean and comfortable. Has a small refrigerator and microwave.. I would stay again.
Staying at Gilroy Inn has it's ups and downs. The location does not endear one to feel safe, but I had no issues staying there. The service is acceptable, the room was acceptable and clean and you have plenty of eating and shopping options nearby or across the street. No, it's not a five-star hotel, but it seems to be owner-operated and that in itself is an admirable challenge.
Mike is one of the best innkeepers we have ever met. We stay at a lot of Motel 6 is around the country and we found this one to be particularly clean and the staff was very friendly. I would highly recommend staying at this property anytime you are in the San Jose area. Well worth the extra commute.
The room was fine it was clean the remodel was nice. However when we got to the room it was 97 degrees inside! I had a reservation which the front office had trouble finding. I understand cost saving measures but we had to leave the hotel for an hour after we got there just so the room was tolerable. How hard is it to set the rooms to 85? Because it was so hot when I got to the room i immediately started looking for other things wrong.
Booked the room through my employer's discount website. I had read several reviews stating that the manager had somehow been rude, and that they had difficulty with their reservation.
I had called once before, to ask about their pet policy and was told to "Call back next month. I don't have a rate for you." I called a month later, after I had booked the room, just to confirm my reservation. Again, the same voice picked up and stated, "I am busy now. Call back later." Not only was that not customer service at all, but I had to ask my significant other to call back, since I did not feel like dealing with this voice. When my significant other called, the voice was polite and answered the questions right away. Needless to say, you'd think this was deter me from this place. But little did I know that the reviews and service I had already received, would just be the beginning.
Upon arriving to the motel, I was told by the front desk/manager, that they would not honor my discount since I did not have a "code." He then went on to call a number and got my reservation cancelled, stating I did not have the "code." I called Motel 6, and they asked why the front desk/manager had cancelled my reservation and had stated that the front desk/manager, did not need to have a "code," since everything was already taken care of prior to my arrival. Fast forward one hour, after making numerous phone calls, my significant other told the front desk/manager, that we were told that our discount should have been honored, and was informed by even Motel 6 staff that. He then honored our discount and reinstated our reservation, AFTER the Motel 6 staff had called him. If it had not been for my unpleasant welcome to the motel, I would have rated this place even higher.
The bathroom walls and room floors were filthy. The sink was leaking from the pipes. The mattress seemed to have no padding left in it. Bad customer service on the phone and in person.
But the room was quiet and close to the venue of my event. The price I paid was worth what I got.
Minutes before check out time the owners (or whoever seems to be managing this place) will stand in front of the rooms and call the occupants to tell them what time check out is. We were here 3 Minutes over the time for check out using the restroom before making our drive home when the owner (or manager) barges in.
Don't come here with the expectation of relaxation, there's a constant sense of hovering by the owners (or managers).
Was disappointed that I did not get a room on the ground floor as requested and was told all the rooms with one bed were on the second floor. I was charged an additional $10 for a room on the ground floor that had two beds. I travel with dogs and would like to have had a convenient area to potty my two dogs. I am a responsible dog owner and always pick up after my pets.
My reservation was for room on 1st floor because I cannot climb stairs. The man (cannot call him a manager) insisted he had no rooms on 1st floor. No "sorry, I wish I did" or "let me look again" just "no, no room." When I insisted that I would not be going to 2nd floor, he suddenly found a room on 1st floor --- but when I opened the door the bed was messed up, trash in basket, towels on floor. I had to go back to the office & when I said "the room is dirty." he just said "what do you mean?" I had to give him the list & he shrugged. Still no "sorry" or anything else. He found yet another 1st floor room that wasn't in existence 10 minutes earlier & handed me that key. The only good thing about that room was being on the 1st floor. I itched all night and for the next day until I could get to my next stop and shower that room off of me. He even charged me the full price rather than Senior which I did receive at the other Motel 6 stops on my trip. So to add insult to injury I was charged $80 to have to argue to get what reserved then still didn't get it.
Good location, decent price for the area. Floor was gritty and had muddy footprints in bathroom. Plusses were fridge, microwave, good tv, ease of check in and out. Friendly staff.
