Always wanted to visit Churchill Downs. It was a very cold day and there was a lot of construction going on but the information and visit was good. Huge place. Got to see a film. The screen went all around the room as you sit on stools so you can turn to view it all. Also had a reindeer race where we made bets with play money to show us the process. Fun time.

We went on a tour of the famous horse track and it was very informative and fun. It's a tour you can take the whole family on. There were no races at the time so I will have to go back again. I also would love to see the derby there, but that will have to wait. It is such a historical place to visit. The museum is pretty good too.

The excitement, the intrigue, the horses, the history, the beautiful women! It’s an experience you MUST have in your life! The Kentucky Derby is of course what it’s most notorious for, but with that comes the day before- The Kentucky Oaks. So many ways to enjoy them- from The Infield, to The Owners Boxes, Front side, Back side- but stay in control, NOBODY wants to watch from the ‘inside’! Founded in a city that loves their horses and traditions, Churchill Downs is a ‘Bucket List’ top 5!!

Overall 99% great experience. Staff was very personable and helpful. I would’ve rated the experience a 5 star if it wasn’t for the cantankerous lady wearing the eye patch. She was so rude to me that I picked up my money and went to another wager line. When I reported her to her supervisor, I got the sense that the staff appreciated me speaking up about her poor customer service skills. She’s probably rude towards her coworkers too. When enough people speak up, eventually people like her can no longer be allowed to treat people so poorly.

AMAZING. The museum was impressive, large, and has a state of the art unique movie screen that is in a large oval circulating the room. Got to see two races on the tracks. The place as a whole is incredible and worth the hype. The restaurant food is pretty yummy. Of course we had to try their mint julip, wow that was strong. Also tried their mule which was made with bourbon and was not bad. Staff from restaurant, the track, the museum, were all so nice.

Great museum. Interactive and easy walk. The great race movie was very cool. We did the short 30 minute walking tour to the track. The guide, Josh, was friendly and well informed. Well worth the price of admission.

This place was extremely nice and nothing like what I expected. Honestly, the views from the seats we had weren't the best. And hardly anybody was outside anyways. But there were nice little alcoves all along the wall inside with a tv and chairs and tables to watch the races. Which was very nice. They had very good mixed drinks. The bloody Mary's are the best. And betting on the races was not difficult to do. Although if you don't know everything about the one particular race and who you picked, the people taking the bets will not be very friendly to you. I was even told to step away and come back when I knew what I wanted to do. I think I was missing the lane number for my picks. That was all. Seems like something they could help you with. But whatever. It was a nice place. And a good way to spend a few free hours.

Iconic, so you have to do it.

We were traveling to watch our football team. This was definitely a plus to go watch the horses and bet a few bucks for fun. Once in a lifetime.

They do allow smoking, and there is probably lots of drinking at all times, but they keep a certain level of sophistication at these events so that it's nothing belligerent. I'd say it is still family friendly and you don't have to sit in your seats. You can move around and go to the finish line if you like. A friendly guy on a golf cart gave us a lift in the parking lot to the the front gates and gave us free tickets. We just tipped him.

Great guided tour. Guide was very well informed and knowledgeable about the history and workings of the facility. The museum was very well laid out with many interactive displays. Gift shop had a great selection. Well worth the stop even if you aren't a huge horse race fan.

Super fun way to spend a day! 15 bucks gets you in and a walking tour! The museum is fantastic with interactive stuff like "you be the jockey" horses to race. Theater in the round was cool! Great dinner at the cafe was a bit pricey, but a hot brown and a real mint julep were worth it! Great day and we didn't even see it all!

Just not something that blows me away. If you love horse racing then, of course this is a cathedral. But, if you are just looking for a day out or something fun to do, there are much better and cheaper places around.

This was a fun last minute excursion. We thoroughly enjoyed the video introduction, walking tour, and museum. We just happened to arrive in time to see a race! Then we stopped in the cafe for dessert and mint juleps, our server was kind enough to make a "virgin" version for my son with iced tea. Make time to visit and take in a race!

I grew up up in Louisville and hand been going to The KY Oaks and The KY Derby for about 17 years now. I feel like the common fan of the track the one that gets the general emission tickets and bares the weather is being pushed out by increasing price hikes in everything from the price of admission to the price of food and drinks. All the while the infield is being cut off in more areas to make more room for even higher priced tickets. I know a lot of older people who used to live to come to the track but ticket prices have pushed them out to never return. A great service could be done by offering the citizens of the great city a better deal than what Churchill is giving us now.

Attended the 143rd Derby here and the Oaks Day. These are big, special events well attended by well dressed men and women of all ages. Probably 95% of the women are wearing fancy hats. For men sport jackets and hats are in. Dress up to the max or you may not fit in.

It is so historical and a great place to watch the horses even if you don't bet. The staff is always there to help if you need anything. The food and drinks can be pricey tho. The original older parts show how it was in the beginning and it's cool.
