Decent mall wish the had more upscale items but there are a lot of children and young people. There are some eatery's and a movie theater. There is a strong presence of security and law enforcement always at the mall for some reason

The mall is cool during the early day hours.
I don't like all of the hanging out of the youth.
    I Love their food court!
I would like to see a few more stores there.

Lot of shops and outlets available. Big good court with play zone for kids. Crowd is less and feel like isolated in the mall. Christmas ice palace looks good.

I'm going to be honest: this mall has become ghetto/raggedy. Over the past 10+ years, more and more it seems like better shoppers have largely stopped going to Fairlane; probably opting to venture out to nicer/cleaner malls. With them, the more decent stores have left. This has created, almost like a 'depression' and listlessness at Fairlane, where it seems like mall management isn't invested in keeping it up because the average visitor these days isn't worth the trouble.

There's actually a mall policy that prevents anyone under 18 from being there after 5pm w/o an adult presentand while that's probably for the best, considering, it still goes to show how much the environment has deteriorated and what kind of demographic this mall is now attracting. I doubt Twelve Oaks or Somerset has the same kind of policy, but then they probably don't have to worry about a bunch of uncouth knuckleheads coming around, acting up.

Sad. I remember when Fairlane was a visually stunning and vibrant shopping center. Now it's more and more a depressing place to visit.

Ghetto mall. Decent stores. Would rather go anywhere else before I had to go here

Ford taking an empty department store and making it office space saved this formerly upscale mall. Very well maintained.

The Fairlane shopping center is fun, friendly and a popular casual hang out. With many stores and food options, a movie theater and beautiful views through out the mall.

This mall used to be great. You could bring your kids and they used to have toys and a play area. There was a beautiful fountain with a waterfall and there also used to be a lot of name brand stores. Now this mall has become a breeding grounds for criminal gangs and undesirables. You should NEVER go to this mall. Get as far away from DETROIT as you can because they always find a way to ruin it for everyone.

Damn shame, Ford should close this place down. Would rather be no mall than an unsafe one. They could always just bring in the national guard so you can shop safer.

This is the only mall I have ever seen where the city police had to be there all the time. Damn shame.

Usually a lively place, plenty of nice shops, clean and family friendly. During holidays you'll see a nice crowd with stuff for the whole family to enjoy. I come here to get all my shopping for my suits for work, never have any issues, food court offers plenty in the way of variety and pricing seems competitive. The best part is the mall vendors in the middle don't seem to bug you here they wait for you to walk up.

I love this mall more than any other one in the area. The layout seems somewhat haphazard which is why I love it - it's easy to get lost in here and take time to enjoy all the different areas. The food court has plenty of options and there are a boutique shops all over. With Ford moving into one of the vacant anchor store spots, I see this mall living a long, healthy life.

It's clean, and the stores are very nice with very polite staff, but the crowd is definitely more towards the teenage set. Not a bad thing, but it can get a bit boisterous and loud when you are in the food court, or the general open mall areas. There are a fair number of stores though that seemed geared towards the adults, like the speciality tea shops and jewelry stores, that were especially nice.

One thing I didn't like was the lack of mall maps, those "you are here" layout displays you typically find all over in a mall, so I had to download one on my phone to navigate the mall since I was in a hurry. But, that is also something that I appreciate now, because since it is available online, if you only wanted to go to one particular store you can look it up in advance and it'll help you when deciding where to park.

The mall is getting a little shady in recent years. There was a big fight here the other day caught on video. They have some good choices in shopping and a great food court with lots of choices. I will say with all the ramps, stairs and so many levels you would think you're in a maze. Do I take the stairs over here? Which level is that store on? Will I ever find my way there? Other than the confusing layout that Taubman developed it is a good mall. I won't count down because of the shady people that sometimes visit because that's really not the mall's fault.

My original intention was to attend the movie theater attached to the mall complex, but my partner and I decided to get a quick bite at Taco Bell before this. The mall was beautiful and brightly lit at first glance; however, navigating the maze was another story. As a first-time customer to the Fairlane Mall, it was confusing to simply wander the building, let alone find something I'm looking for. That being said, the complex was clean and aesthetically appealing. It feels very safe, and I'd consider returning.
