Largest hotel in Manteo. Has an indoor heated pool and an outside pool in season. Restaurant attached.
Positive: This is a very old hotel so it makes sense that a lot of things seem to be old and falling apart. It has a lot of character. Staff is very nice and works with you. They also make sure the hotel is safe and you have to register your car while staying there. The upstairs pool was sort of cool.
Negative: A bit expensive for what you get, but I guess that's how it is at the OBX. The rooms don't cool off that great, beds are uncomfortable, sheets and blankets feel and are overwashed/overused, if your neighboring room flushes the toilet while you are in the shower, expect a cold shower for a few seconds, extension cords are used and hanging to keep room appliances plugged in that seem like a safety hazard.
Overall: If they're renting a room for $68 a night, sure. But never pay over $80 for a room. I wasn't impressed with the $100 room.
What as wonderful place. The staff on all fronts are an exceptional group. I will be back!
We were traveling from Canada through the mountains of nc then decided to head to the coast. We pick the Elizabeth inn because my wife was calling ahead in search of a place to stay for the night. The person on the phone was very friendly so we divided to stay there. The rooms were very nice and clean the staff was very helpful and the Italian restaurant that was connected to the motel was awesome I had the seafood linguine my wife had eggplant parmigiana both dishes were amazing. For the price it was top notch.
This isn't the nicest place you're going to find, but it is fine for what you're spending as an overnight guest. This hotel has a lot of history in Manteo and the years are clear to see. That being said, it has a huge indoor pool and clean rooms with cold AC. It's not close to the beach, but if you're spending time on Roanoke island it should meet your needs.
Convenient location. Little outdated Cancellation policy sucks big - they want 7 days notice I wonder how can I give them seven days notice if I booked 2 days upfront? Manager should review their cancellation policy
Possibly the worst stay ive had. Mantinence has not been kept for years. Pool is disqusting (and in the middle lf summer not available for use) rooms smell of mildew and cigarettes. This room maybe worth 70$ a might but by no means 170$. Im very disapointed. Never have i felt like i spent my money in a more poor manor.
This is a quaint little hotel with an Elizabeth the 1st, late 1500's theme. The rooms themselves were nothing fancy, but perfectly acceptable considering the price and amenities. They also have a business center, an indoor swimming pool, and a fitness room. I found the cleaning staff to be polite and sociable. The woman at the front desk however seemed somewhat simplistic and not a people person by her nature.
Decent lodging within throwing distance of Manteo's waterfront and sufficiently close to Nags Head. It's a bit of a hybrid between a motel and a hotel, with some rooms opening to the parking lot and others to the indoor hallways. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and sized adequately. The hallways and pool hall seem to need some updates and maintenance. The price seems good for the amenities.
The staff were super friendly and the rooms were clean and comfortable. I brought my wife and young kids down for a one night stay not knowing it was "Bike week". All hotels in the area were booked and I mean all My family really appreciated the friendly at home spirit of not only the staff but everyone that we came in contact with in Manteo. Not to mention the food at the Italian restaurant attached to the hotel had great food and a friendly staff as well. So like my 7 year old said, you can't always judge a book by its cover. It is amazing that having friendly welcoming people can make up for the lack of bells and whistles but that was the case with our stay
Very economical little Inn, but staff are friendly and responsive. We stayed in a 2 queen room, the interior and amenities are dated but good enough for what we paid for. If you need a cheap place to stay at the OBX, this place is definitely an option.
