Good tasting food although pricey. Service by Angelica was out of this world. Disappointing that the website menu is not consistent with the in-store menu. The web menu has the Trees Leches Chocolate cake but the restaurant didn't have it. El Torito needs to revamp its menu a bit and offer more healthful fare. Stagnation might cause its decline.
Came into San Diego from Pittsburgh for a visit and was brought here for Sunday brunch. The food was excellent. So real so authentic so wonderful. The service is what has truly made the experience so warming. Ellie, Victor, Kevin, Gina the chefs James, Devonte always were smiling and so eager to help and provide. You want a real Mexican food experience with people that are limitless with service. This is your place. Thank you El Torito for giving a east coaster a taste of something amazing and unforgettable.
Been here over the last 30 years. This last time not too over joyed about bar service. High prices even for happy hour. Big no no: they add a extra charge for the higher wages now. What? Is this. Just figure that into price don't make it an add on to bill.
Usually the lunch buffet is good, but this time the chicken & beef for tacos were real spicy and I could not eat it. Plus they did not have hardly any desserts to choose from, also the fruits were not ripe enough they were real hard. So not a good experience at all.
Love the food and service! Wish I could remember the name of the beautiful latina who waited on us. She provided great, fast customer service. Food was great!
We were a little disappointed with our visit this time around. The first time was a little disappointing too. First visit they kept running out plates. Food was good and there menu options were abundant. This visit most of the food I had was cold. Not room temperature, not warm, but straight out cold. Not sure if we'll give this place a 3rd visit. Surprisingly this place is very crowed though.
It's been a long time since I've been here and I was happy that I decided to stop by. I thought I would be forgotten, but heck no! Kevin was my waiter and is the best and friendliest waiter ever. The other guys all checked to see if I needed anything at all. Everyone was so friendly and professional and nice. Kevin asked me about my order and helped me decide on my order all professionally and with a smile. He was that way with several other customers and the staff. That is rare these days. Thanks all for a very enjoyable meal and great experience. You guys are doing everything right!
Authentic Mexican restaurant. Came for Taco Tuesday. Everything is set out like a buffet, and after someone picks out your choice of tortilla and meat, they hand you your plate and you add your own toppings. I had a corn tortilla with chicken, and it was amazing! They have all the meats in cast iron skillets and set up on bricks. I don't know how they did it, but all the meats were still hot. The server was very attentive and informative. Everyone who worked there seemed like they wanted be there. They were very generous with the chips and salsa (there were 5 of us and I think everyone had their own bowl of salsa). Was in town visiting, and I think I'd come back if I were in the mood for Mexican food.
Service was great. Food ok. Restrooms filthy. Too loud
Wonderful old style mexican food. Wonderful service, friendly and professional. Can't wait to return next time we're in town !!!
The food is great !!! I'll go there again but I'd make sure it's not the same waitress . she got the order wrong my quest had to wait on his because of that and she also forgot a whole order I had for to go and we dined in got the. Bill and noticed the steak to go was not there. That was a bummer.
After being seated, it took about 20 minutes to even have a server ask us for drinks. Upon getting our food, the tacos were the biggest soggy mess I've ever had. Definitely not "Mexican" food. The only redeeming quality was the random gentleman (from a wedding party) that handed our son a balloon as he was walking out.
Super expensive brunch $52 for 2 and I had a half of waffle and enchilada with rice, hubby had a bowl of soup and an omelet. Cold food. Food stations are a joke, crowded. Had to wait and wait for waffles 15 minutes. Some guy peddling cocktails with a big rolling cart that gets in everyone's way. Such a joke. Went there for yearsbut no more. They need to rethink their strategylike put hot foods near the kitchen not in the old lobby. Very disappointed.
