Delicious breakfast food. Fast and affordable. Very extensive menu. Great service by friendly staff. You can't do better for a casual breakfast.

Food was cold, bland, and the service was poor. If you are visiting like we were, DO NOT COME to this place.

We tried Breatfast Republic as well and LOVED it. Great service, selection for both vegans and meat connoisseurs. Very sheik and quaint at the same time. Can't say enough positive things.

We had breakfast here 2 days in a row when we visited Gaslamp District in San Diego because the food is so very good. I LOVED the Waffle Sandwich and the fruit bowl so much, I ordered it both times. I would highly recommend this place.

Wow! I consider myself a ‘breakfast connoisseur’ and had high expectations and The Broken Yolk Cafe didn’t disappoint! The service was quick, the food was DELICIOUS, and the portions were overwhelming!

Our waiter Oddy was AWESOME! We told him that we’re from out of town and he made several recommendations for things to do and even provided a map which was very helpful.

Had breakfast at the Broken Yolk. Food was reasonably price, serving was large, and service was fantastic! Everything on the menus is delicious looking, and the food we ordered was mouth watering. Service was prompt, friendly and attentive! The mimosa was perfectly balanced and large! Great breakfast/brunch/lunch option if you are in the San Diego Gaslamp quarter.

I love this place, the food is always good and the service is usually great! I personally don't love the coffee they serve, but I still get it anyways, so it's not that bad. Usually really busy on the weekends, so expect a wait on weekends. Only downside is San Diego prices but that's everywhere here. Cool environment also, if you're from out of town it is definitely worth checking out.

2yrs later and I'm back! Love this place for breakfast. If you like breakfast you'll love this place. The breakfast menu is 3 pages long!! This time I got the tiki toast (Hawaiian bread French toast) with strawberries, blueberries and coconut toppings. Delicious!!! The service was great and the line outside moved fast.

Great place for breakfast. Had the ham and egg scrabble, which came with the option of fruit, hash browns or steak fries. Services was very good.

My husband and I are regulars at Broken Yolk Cafe and I'm pretty sure we've been to every single location in San Diego. Their menu offers something for everyone in the family from Omelettes, Benedict, to French Toast and Pancakes; they have it all! I love the fact that they have both Turkey sausage and bacon! My husband usually goes for the Make Your Own Omelette since they have all kinds of cheese, meats, vegetables you can imagine and he's never disappointed there given he's a picky eater! Their portions are huge though, so keep that in mind. Oh, and go for the home fries :)

We enjoyed breakfast very much and were seated quickly with our family of 5. We ate here twice during our stay, realizing you needed to ask for the special $7.45 menu for those early risers! If not, those prices are a bit steep for our family. Yummy filling food, good service.

Where to start!. Our server was rude but accommodating. Our group was huge!. My mimosa was good, until I bit a rotten strawberry that was rimmed into my drink. (Server refunded forcefully) all food looked great but was mediocre. I could've been in that kitchen. Needless to say, we had more complaint than compliment. Location was perfect, just wish my meal was better. Here's a couple pics of my sisters plates. Like I said they LOOK great and have descent sized portions

The Broken Yolk Cafe is a nice place. I liked it. We were there on a Friday morning for breakfast and it was super busy and had a waiting line, although we didn't have to wait much and we had outside seating which was nice. The food was good, but not great. It was a bit pricey too. But overall good.

Service was excellent, top notch. Atmosphere was busy but not distracting. The food was disappointing. Ordered my own 4 egg omelette creation, the eggs were flavorless, and those must be the tiny quail eggs or something. I raise my own chickens and enjoy farm fresh delicious large and extra large eggs routinely. These folks used about 2 1/2 small eggs in my ultra thin omelette I would think this restaurant would be the leader in getting the freshest eggs and not skimping, robust menu creations but not yet you can do better than this.
