I recently stayed at this hotel while visiting downtown. I found the employee's to be very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean. The building is a bit dated, but overall nice. The bars both offered pleasant experiences.

Generally good and better than most hotels, but the building is particularly noisy and the service could be improved. They are welcoming, which is nice, but forget certain details such as providing enough towels. The parking garage is also not great. But overall this hotel is satisfactory.

If anyone is looking for a great deal on hotels you can check it out on HotelRaven. com Booked a room on there and they had the best rates around

Very nice rooms and views, friendly & always helpful staff, and a great location close to the Mag Mile & River North, and walking distance to the Loop. We stayed during our downtown-Chicago-centric honeymoon for a few nights. Not sure if I should advertise this next story (but here I go anyway) While checking-in, the lady at the front desk (whose name escapes me, super sorry) was extra helpful, notably when asking my wife if her last name was the same as mine, and she says ‘Well, as of yesterday…’, which brought upon a ‘Congratulations’ and a ‘hey look, another [nicer, higher, etc] room just opened up’. We didn’t plan on using ‘honeymoon’ as an excuse for better stuff, but we Fully appreciated the offer, because they really didn’t have to do it, but they did.  Long story short, DoubleTree (staff especially) will treat you right, especially if you’re nice in return.

There was no fridge or microwave. We had to use a trash can with a liner full of ice to keep food and drinks cold. The shower kind of sucked, it was hard to adjust to the right temperature and water sprayed out onto the floor really easily. Not very modern, clean enough. You do get a free cookie and the location is really nice so that's probably worth the price.

I just spoke with Chris the General Manager and tried to cancel a reservation the day of my employees stay. I had just found out our client had book a room at the location of the event we were working. I know from past experiences that the GM has the ability to cancel reservation with out any fees or at least reduce, in this case Chris was not willing to do either and I felt very rude. I had to wait a good 20 minutes on hold just to speak with him. I book weekly in the Chicago area but will not be giving money to the Double tree in the future. I know they have only 3 rooms left on Expedia and will be billing me for this room and will still lease it for the night since we will not be checking in. I understand things can happen and would have been more than willing to pay a reduced fee but for a whole night is ridiculous.

Place has def gone downhill. Been coming here for years. As a previous reviewer also stated I also had a backing up sink and slow shower drain. Unlike the previous reviewer I did not let them plunge it as i did not want crud splattered all over my belongings. I opted for a new room. The second room was better but the toilet did not flush. This place is slipping and has a dated look to it. Also the front desk is not super friendly. On a positive note the cookies are still good. Prob won't be back

Is parking in Chicago expensive? Yeah, but it's in the Magnificent Mile. Really comfortable rooms some with lake views. If you are a Hilton Honors member with Diamond status you get free CONTINENTAL breakfast only. The hot stuff will cost you $8. Not bad if you eat breakfast meats and want your carbs in the form of pancakes or French toast. Continental breakfast does not include eggs. Usually Double Tree offers free breakfast including hot items to Diamond members for free. That's one of the reasons I stay at Double Trees. Ugly building but don't be discouraged. Very modern interior and comfortable rooms make this place.

Amazing stay last week. From check in until departure. Great accommodations. Awesome breakfast with fresh made omelettes. Loved having supermarket right next door. Loved the high floor and even got to enjoy the pool for a few hours after work. I would for sure stay here again

Didn't have the smoothest stay here.
My check-in was rude. I had already driven all day and was tired. The last thing I needed was a person being rude to me for check-in at a hotel I just spent a bunch of money to stay at.
Parking is more than they tell you. The website says $55 but it's actually $55/night so beware of this added cost if you are staying multiple days.
The hotel room was very tiny. I had a king corner deluxe (i think it was called) and the actual room wasn't much larger than the bed.
The view was pretty, especially at night.
This previous stay made me want to stay somewhere else, and if I'm spending this kind of money, I'm sure there are better options available.

The hotel is clean and the staff is friendly. The location is a few blocks off the magnificent mile, closer to the Navy Pier. The room is comfortable. It would have been nice to have a refrigerator in the room. Sufficiently close choices for breakfast. The cookie was a nice touch.

The staff are not inclined to help and was unexpectedly charged $7 dollars to receive a USPS letter. I told them I was planning to book every week for the next 6 months but being charged for mail was a deal breaker with the amount of hotels in the area. The lady at the desk said I'd have to discuss that with the person scheduling my dates. I'm confused, are these not the people allowed to schedule my future dates?

I've been a Marriott Platinum for over 5yrs and thought maybe I'd switch it up and try a new brand. At least with Marriott I'm not charged for mail and I've never met a front desk person who didn't jump at the opportunity to book me out for six months, to which I become friends with over time.

Update: received an email from the front desk director, Chris Kolodziej, apologizing and asking for another opportunity. It was a very nice email but when I responded to the email taking him up on his offer.it's been crickets for a week now. Zero response.

Our second stay here and it's located in a good location. Rooms are nice and rates reasonable. Option for parking is awesome and not as expensive as other hotels. Breakfasts is good. Overall a good value.

Perfect location to experience Chicago. Easy access to bus and train lines, walkable to Navy Pier and Millennium park. Rooms are good, nothing exceptional. Service was good, again nothing exceptional. All around a good value. I'd book here again.

I gave this place two stars because the staff was amazing. They are very kind and takes everything you say seriously. The hotel itself is horrible. My tub was peeling plaster. The bathroom door was clearly water damaged our fridge fell apart and they only have a outdoor pool. The Hotel is in Chicago for goodness sake!! Maybe it was just our room (room 2007) that was that horrible but I will never spend my money at this hotel again.
