The Discovery Place Museum can keep your whole family intrigued for hours. The hands on exhibits are fun for all ages. There is even a hands on exhibits for smaller children on the first floor. You can usually touch a starfish or some sort of crab. You can create a handmade souvenir out of recyclables, watch a science show, or lay on a bed of nails! Or Try all three!

Such a great museum/learning center. Came with all ages and everyone had a great time including the adults. Our group spent 2+ hours here and still didn't experience everything. Highly recommend!

One of my favorite places to go! I love adult night! Fun activities and of course adult beverages to enjoy while you experience the museum and themed activities! Highly recommend!

Took my niece and nephew last week and they loved it! A place you can spend the whole day without getting bored or running out of activities to learn from. Great place to enjoy with the family!

A ridiculously fun hands on place geared towards kids probably about 5-12. Always new displays to experience with every return. The new virtual reality display was educational even for my 6 year old grandson. If you live in NC a family season pass is a must.

We had a great time during the adults only night. Lots of exhibits, lots of hands-on stuff to do. Would be perfect for a child that has an interest in science. Will be back again

Went during the Ripley's exhibit as well as the World of Frogs. Both great. Very hands on science exhibits for kids. Great gift shop. Excellent way to spend half a day downtown.

Amazing atmosphere for all ages. The kids (2-4 yrs old) loved the aquarium and live feeding tour along with the kids education and play area. We enjoyed the level of detail and personalized approach the staff takes toward each family. The facility was very well designed to capture the kids attention and there was a lot for both parents and children to both do. Definitely worth the annual membership to all three museums as well since each has its own unique dynamic.

Cool Museum! There was some work being completed during our visit so there were some things we couldn't see. The shows were awesome and my girls really enjoyed them. So many hands on exhibits made it interesting the whole way through.

Probably one of the best days that we have had as a family! Anyone with children will enjoy all the activities and experiments that are offered all day each day. My daughters, as well as my husband and my mother, had an amazing time! The tickets are reasonably priced and there are free days for visitors monthly.

Definitely 5 stars! So much fun not just for the kids but adults too! Great atmosphere, plenty to do and interact with. Plan on making a whole day of it because there's so much to do and look at. Fun and educational!

Is it a museum or a Dressed up Mac Donald's?
To start, yes, I agree with some of the comments on prices, expensive day trip; then again you are in Charlotte, where everything is expensive and do not forget the 9% on taxes that some of the locations/stores charge.
Yes, the front desk people NEEDS and must have an assessment or examination in order to upgrade this, that they call Customer Service.
How about some kind of sign for where does the entrance is or if I could come through any door and pay?
How about that there is a Museum Parking available, for those of us that have not idea what are we doing?
And once you are in, more signs to tell you where to go. Or better yet: Have an employee that knows the place and will -Kindly- escort you to where you want to go?
May be the person that is taking your money could identify in that "geometrical confusing pastel color paper" referred as MAP; the steps that you need to take. Mentioning that the NW stairs/elevator do NOT go to the second floor, even if you go to the 3rd floor there is NO connection whatsoever
You HAVE to take the SE stairs/elevator, which might not be close together, if you want the second floor and that the SE stairs/elevator, will NOT take you to the 3rd floor.
It also you need to notice that even though it states the word MUSEUM is more like a CHILDREN'S museum, a lot of running around, loud voices, confusion, not enough employees to help you out, and so forth.
It is hard to think in/on the beauty, and marvel at nature and dream of what if(s), when there is a child screaming that is their birthday and that they are celebrating it there, as if I cared; or how about enjoying some past culture, ancient royalty and suddenly a group of children playing tag as if these pieces where from the dollar store
It is sad that the parents that though this was Mac Donald's playground are teaching their children that is so. and people like me and my family, that are interested in the past and how amazing is being protected and pass from generation to generation soon will have not place to go, unless you travel or get satisfied with the internet view.

Nice place to take children, and still have fun as an adult. I enjoyed the mini rainforest and the Fired Up! demonstration. I saw online that this place had an aquarium, but it was more like 8 fish tanks with a variety of fish. Still cool but wish it was bigger and had more aquatic animals (not just fish). Had a great time and would be back in the future.
