Location and the service at the front desk were amazing. When I needed help printing tickets for something, they were able to help me out. However the hallways seem like an extreme fire hazard. They are a MAZE of narrow, claustrophobic hallways, and you can easily get lost in them. There was also a bug in our bathroom and electrical tape on the side of the window. Not enough blankets either. Just one thin one between two sheets, however, it didn't get too chill, even on a cold day. Pillows and bed were really comfortable though.

Location was great since it was so close to the subway. The room was something left to be desired but reasonable. Could have used a better blanket but was never cold. The shower didn't drain quickly. The bed was very comfortable plenty of pillows. Hallways were CRAZY and my wife wasn't a fan of that. The service was GREAT! they printed papers for us that we needed and they welcomed us warmly.

Just a slum they’re asking too much money to stay in. Only had one towel in a two-bed room. They don’t have hair conditioner. Don’t have breakfast. Our door doesn’t close unless you slam it and there’s a huge gap so you can see through to the hallway outside. There’s duct tape on the TV. Dust everywhere. Incredibly small bathroom. I can’t wait to leave. Horrible. Wish I could give zero stars.

I'd give the hotel 3 stars at most but the front desk earned them the extra star for being very helpful. After getting the run around on an upgrade offer I couldn't use and being worried about the room based on an the reviews, the guy at the front desk was very helpful and took care of my concerns. As for the hotel, some of the things you've read are true and some false (or at least for my experience). The elevator does not feel like it's going to crash. I'm a larger gentleman and I feel perfectly safe. You do hear the chains but that's just because it's an older elevator that has chains (the theme is this is an old hotel). The rooms are dirty (not necessarily that they don't clean them so much as it's an old hotel and the dirt is just ingrained in things). The pictures of chipped walls and stuff are true but a little exaggerated (at least on my floor). There is currently really loud construction going on in the building next door; not there fault but hard to sleep past 7 for sure. There are no curtains on the windows, just blinds. The rooms aren't that small but are small. Like the elevator, things are small; it's NYC though so if you expect anything more than that you're in the wrong city or not spending enough money. The furniture is very minimalistic so you'll probably be living out of your suitcase and using the floor or your bed to hold your suitcase; it's basically just the beds, a small desk with chair, a sitting chair, closet, TV, and bathroom. That's it. Location is perfect; subway is a block away. And check out Manhattan diner while you're here, they had an awesome breakfast. Lastly, the beds are oddly comfortable for a hotel bed so that definitely helped.

a decent hotel. a little older. our rooms were not right at first but the desk staff made it right. the layout of the floors are strange, some rooms are in the stairwell instead of the hallway. that said, the beds were comfy and it had a good location.

The best thing about this hotel is its Upper West Side location, only steps from late-night dining, convenience (drug store), and the 96th St. subway stop. The problems: Converted apartment bldg, - hallways are barely wider than shoulder-width. We reserved a non-smoking room. In the room next door to ours some very loud & smelly renovation activity was taking place. We asked to be moved, and the room we got was a smokers room. We're still trying to get the smoke out of our belongings a week later. No fridge for my wife's medications. Shower temp fluctuated constantly. Tub bottom dark & stained. Entire property in a mild state of disrepair - peeling wallpaper, metal & wood moldings poorly painted and cleaned. As I said, I loved the location, but 2 stars is about right - I would not stay there again.

Very conveniently located, just a corner from 96th street station, in Upper West Manhattan. About 10 minutes by foot to Central Park. Amsterdam and Columbus avenues are one and two blocks away, respectively, and these streets have lots of good restaurants, supermarkets, clothing stores, drugstores and many others.
I was informed that the hotel is currently undergoing a remodeling process. I thought it a very good idea, because the hotel needs an update, and some repairs. The room and bath space is very good, compared to what I have read about other Manhattan hotels. The staff is friendly, professional and efficient.response / report this review -

The place is old, and it shows. But it's very well kept and clean, so no issues there (except maybe for a strong persistent smoke smell in the hallway, but not in room). Location is decent; subway station is a block away. Overall: pleasant stay for a reasonable (by NYC standards) price. Not five stars because to get to five you need to blow me away, and it didn't happen; all within reasonable expectations.

The best thing about this hotel is the neighborhood where is located (upper west side). You have the subway just minutes away and restaurants and coffee shops around the block. Old hotel with old installations, also the service provided by the staff is really basic. This place could be improved so guest will have a better experience while visiting NYC. Between the relationship value/price is fair enough, but as I say it could be better.

Great location with plenty of restaurants nearby and a subway station right across the street. Staff is also very helpful if needed. No refrigerator in the room so don't plan on keeping any leftovers. Not the fanciest place, but it gets the job done.

Attentive and highly responsive staff, clean rooms, great location near every form of public transport; museums, stores galore, Central Park, with everything and more a short walk from Broadway. The amenities were fine for the price paid.

Don't expect a fancy hotel because this isn't it! It decent, and who stays in their hotel all day? Lame!! Anyway, I thought this place was okay. The sheets were clean,our room was pretty spacious and guess what! NO bedbugs, yay! Oh and two mins away from the subway!
I would give this place four stars but I honestly think this place is haunted!!

This is the worst hotel ever. I was horrified. The room (325) was dirty, the bathroom was dirty with blood stains on the walls and near the bathtub. The furniture is old, the TV is old, WI-FI did not work at all. Dust everywhere, the carpets are dirty with visible dirt. The heater was burning the air, the AC is old and with dust and hair inside. Constant smell of weed and cigarettes, although it was a non-smoking floor. The room was disgusting.

I know it's in New York City but I was expecting a lot more for the price. I also wasn't able to rest because since very early they started to work on the renovations outside my room.
Be aware of the weird smell of the rooms. I had to open the windows at night because I felt I was getting a carbon intoxication.
Parking isn't available. They'll give you a discount for a parking about three blocks away that will cost you around $50.
Put those things together and you are better off staying in a much nicer, better hotel.response / report this review
