It would've been nice to know BEFORE going to the room that our bathroom was down the hall and shared with other guests. You should've seen the surprised look on my husband's face when he opened the closet door thinking it was the bathroom. The bed was horrible. The mattress sounded like it was 50 years old. They were very friendly though. The housekeeping was outstanding. Even though we had to share the bathroom, it was always cleaned and restocked with the amenities.

Excellent service! The cleanliness was up and beyond our expectations. The recently renovated rooms are classy and homey. The kitchenette is always a plus to save money on food if traveling on a budget. The best part is definitely the location; it's Manhattan but not in the crowded part. The subway that takes you downtown (Times square, museums, piers) is literally across the street. Also, it's a residential area filled with every service and convenience stores you might need (salons, coffee shops, bakeries, Walgreens, CVS, etc.) I will most definitely be returning. The only down side was that they did have trouble with the elevator for two days, but they always offered to carry our stuff to our rooms.

Best thing about the place is that it's situated near a very good subway station (all broadway Metros stop there and get you to town in a few minutes) and no shortage of local restaurants. The neighbourhood otherwise was just okay. Room was acceptable but furniture hid some very dusty areas. Booked a 'superior room' and paid handsomely but no view at all from the room and even less light. The mattress was hard and conditions at night were hot and stuffy. An old, noisy air conditioning unit was fitted to remedy this. Privacy was not good. The doors have catches, not locks and member of staff opened the door without knocking at 8:00 in the morning on one occasion. The coffee machine in the kitchenette was quite bad.

Loved it. Small room but great location. Everything you need and more. Seinfeld cafe a few blocks away. Best cheesecake in the world across the road and up a big at City Diner

While the room itself was fine, it is by no means sound proof and was adjacent to a bathroom in the hallway. Apparently some of the rooms don't have bathrooms so a ton of people kept using the bathroom all night. Overall I give this place a meh. I've stayed in worse, but I've definitely also stayed in better. Stay somewhere better for cheaper IMO.

The staff members were very helpful. I needed a pull-out bed and the front desk employee stayed past his shift to ensure that it was set up properly. The only downside was the location, but even that was fine, as there is a subway station right outside.

The hotel is cheaper than all other alternatives, while maintaining a clean, quiet, cozy experience. Glad I stayed here. It's not perfect, but it's close to a subway station (lines 1,2,3) and in a good neighborhood.

Also, they have a luggage closet in case you arrive before your room is ready (or in case you need to keep your bags somewhere safe after you check out). It's a closet filled with large lockers controlled by a kiosk (We were able to fit a large luggage, medium sized dufflebag, and a backpack inside with no issues). It costs $5 cash per locker, for 24 hours. Really awesome , saved us from having to carry our luggage all over the city.

Just keep in mind that in order to get anywhere meaningful (tourist destinations) will take about 30-45 minutes, no matter if you take subway, bus, or walk.. Whether it's the Cloister, MET, Museum of Natural History, Time Square, etc.

OMG, I truly enjoyed my stay at the Hotel Newton. I was greeted at the door and then the hotel staff at the desk were warm, helpful, and friendly. The hotel is bright and clean. The room was clean too. Staff gave me suggestions on great places to eat and I tried them and enjoyed the food, the price, location and setting. The neighborhood is full of stores for everything. Its a great location in the upper west side. I will def come back here again and again.

It's ok. It's a completely different type of hotel. The parking is separate from the hotel about a block away which sucks when you have to carry luggage and it's not free. The hotel is older, checking in was quick and easy. The staff was always friendly and was willing to help us find our way through the city. BUT The room was tiny and the bathroom is shared between other rooms and you are given a key to the bathroom. It makes for some awkward experiences with strangers.

So listen. This is not a fancy hotel. Everything works but just barely! You will stay here to sleep. The rest of your 24hours do something Else. It's quite cheap tho

The rooms were nice and the bed was comfortable but it was the service was great. I was here for a school trip and they mess up. But the hotel was willing and able to help and assist eve though it wasn't their issue.

The hotel is located very close to subway, that is perfect to you trip. The accommodation is good. The only reason that I didn't gave 5 stars was that the staff could be a little more nice.

Cute, clean old hotel. Room was a decent size, the bathroom is smaller than my own at home, and the beds need updatingthey are harder than the ground. I'm going to be sore in the morning. This is not worth what I spent for one night of pain.
