Overall I was really happy with my stay here, friendly and helpful staff, right on the beach, clean and nicely decorated rooms and within walking distance of several nice restaurants. This is a pet friendly hotel and there was a barking dog on the floor I was on. There is a highway and train track in close proximity which can be noisy at times. I would stay here again for sure.
Right on the beach. With amazing views! Has a bar and restaurant connected, but if you want to venture out. It is within walking distance of downtown which is very quaint, and has lots of yummy places to eat. There is a outdoor firepit to relax by in the evenings while you take in the ocean view. Lots of activities to do. Ride a bike on the boardwalk, see the longest pier in Cali or jump on the train to go and see numerous things, which is experience in itself. On the Amtrak you get to see wonderful scenery and you can sit back and relax and leave the driving to someone else
Good hotel, right on the beach and easy walk to downtown. Friendly staff and really good bar/ restaurant. They also have bikes you can rent. Some rooms were being renovated when I was there last which they need. The hallways and rooms were a little dated. Has a small gym, arcade and outside fire place. Not bad for the price!
Rooms were renovated in Oct. 2016. The rooms are very comfy with nice step-in shower, balcony. In room coffee maker, microwave, small refrigerator. Right on the beach. Nice bar, outside seating.
Train and freeway are nearby, so early plugs are a good idea if you're a light sleeper.
Photos show outdoor patio seating area protected from the wind, the beach, and the land side. Lovely sunsets. Don't forget your sunglasses!
Very nice hotel and excellent staff! Our room wasn't ready and so they upgraded us at no extra cost. The view was beautiful! Don't let the outside of the hotel (which looks older) fool you! The rooms are comfortable and obviously renovated beautifully! Will definitely be staying here again.
This is where my high school reunion is every 5 years. The improvement over 5 years ago is amazing. Good bed, good WiFi, restaurant is much better. Only problem is the location. Between the hwy 101 across the street and the trains that pass regularly, it's incredibly noisy.
Would have been 4 stars if there was any kind of customer service at this hotel. Front staff really need training. Be aware this is a dog friendly hotel and there was a dog show going on in the hotel when we stayed. No complaints re the room and location.
I have stayed at this hotel off and on for years, always loved it. Felt like it was home away from home. Needing a vacation away from it all I chose to book 5 weeks ahead and come to Crowne Plaza on the beach. Flying in from Denver specifically to stay at this hotel. I booked in advance so I was able to stay on the west side of the hotel. I had a few problems in the beginning getting the room I wanted but it was all worked out by the Manager Mr. Douglas Woods. During my stay Mr. Woods did show me how beautiful the east side of the hotel is too however. Just a different view of the beach. The trick is being on a higher floor on the east side I suppose.
This trip was wonderful. The hotel looks beautiful after the remodel! I stayed 6 nights. This hotel is great if you love the beach and being close to the beach and a small quaint town with plenty to do when you don't want to be at the beach. Great restaurants and shopping just blocks away. You can walk to the end of the Ventura pier and gaze back at the nice little hilly town. The hotel has a great pool area with poolside service. Awesome bartender Robert who can make a great drink and is very personable! The restaurant at the hotel is also worth eating at or getting room service. I had the ribs and they were delicious. Most all the staff at the hotel were great. Parking If you will be coming and going late at night you will want to valet park. If not using your car or only during the day just park in the structure next door. The beach is a great place for the less fortunate to live so if coming and going late night you may see some homeless on the promenade. They are harmless. The hotel is close to a train track but the train comes through with a quick horn blow and is on it's way, no bother! As far as some complaining about the highway noise, they would complain if there wasn't a highway to get here! All in all it has and is a beautifull place to stay a quick night or an extended period of time. Enjoy !Thank you to the Ventura Crowne Plaza for the great and special treatment you gave me ❣
I really enjoyed my stay here. How is on the 8th floor in room 801 at the very front of the hotel and had an excellent view of the beach. The staff was very friendly and accommodating I'll be happy to stay here again.
Great location. Bike rentals are available from the hotel. The pool area is very small. Service at the bar is slow. The fitness center was recently renovated and is quite nice. We enjoyed our stay here.
This place is a joke, it amazing how terrible their customer service is.
I booked a room here for a marathon, I called to cancel it and they said they would cancel it for me. I never received the cancellation notice, so I called back. They directed me to group sales, left a message. Nobody called me back. Called the front desk, they said they couldn't cancel it but assured me that they would reach group sales and cancel it.
Guess what, they NEVER cancelled it.
I was charged the full rate. I have called back a few times seemed like no one knew what was going on, I got transferred to multiple people hung up on twice. So I asked to talk to the general manager, I've called him and left messages twice and he never returned my call.
I stayed at a Marriott close by for the race the year before, I would suggest staying there.
Absolutely amazing place. Right on the beach. The outside doesn't look too great but the rooms and inside has modern remodeling. The gym is pretty versatile and new. The rooms are clean, spacious, and modern. The beds were extremely comfortable and large. The only downside I can think of is that they make you pay for parking and don't have valet. Oh! They also don't have free WiFi
Best view of the sunset anywhere. They have done a great job modernizing the entire place. The Bay view room is a truly great location for any event . There is nothing else like it in Venture county.
When checking in, I was given a room that had not been cleaned up yet. However, the issue was resolved quickly and everything turned out well. The rooms are spacious, clean, and updated. One thing I am not happy with is the fact that I paid extra for an "ocean view room" and was told once I got here that "all rooms are ocean view". If this is the case, the option of paying more for a specific room shouldn't have been there. This is very unfortunate as I was expecting more for the room I received. The view of the ocean is obstructed. You need to go out on the balcony and look to the left to see it. Very misleading.
We stayed here during the final 2 days of our "whirlwind" 2 week "tour" of California. After the stress of driving and negotiating the hectic cities of San Diego, Los Angeles and San Francisco (plus others), we arrived at this hotel in Ventura. Going on reviews and not knowing what to expect, I booked a room for 2 nights and my wife and I wished we could have stayed for at least a week or more. From the friendly reception by staff at check in (thank you Margarita) to the pleasant young man at check out (thank you Julio) we could not be more pleased with our stay. It is evident that the hotel has recently been through a complete renovation. The interior and first floor is beautiful and our room was spacious, with modern décor, well appointed with a modern shower stall "to die for", comfortable bed, view of the ocean etc., etc. The location of the hotel is excellent and only a short walk to beautiful "Old Town" Ventura where walking was both pleasant and comfortable and did not feel like a "tourist trap". Meals in town were reasonable, very tasty, filling and we also walked along the beach boardwalk for what seemed to be miles, but never tired of it's beauty and watching the surfers. Unfortunately, our stay ended far too prematurely and our time had come to leave this "little piece of heaven" we had found. It is unfortunate that we live on the east coast and the ability to return is quite remote, however we will never forget our memorable stay at this GREAT hotel and would definitely recommend it to others.
