Had been a regular and loyal customer of this hotel for about 10 years. Thought I'd try again, even given the remodeling and new management/name. Just tried to make a reservation for next year, but in addition to being put on hold for 15 minutes and being given conflicting information (ok for 3 nights, no, just for 2 now), the biggest problem was being told one price over the phone and then seeing a much higher price in the email "confirmation." When I called to clear the matter up, I was given the stone wall of uncomprehending and unhelpful "customer service." They just lost a good client! Caveat emptor!

SHIFTY MANAGER. Manager named JASON lied to us and said he had no boss and would not provide an accurate email or even a name to contact someone other than him. It was incredibly frustrating for my brother to be blown off like our patronage means nothing. Hotel failed to inform us BEFORE we paid online that they would not have water for 5 hours. My sister and her daughter were ill and needed a room WITH WATER. We never would have booked it if we had known in advance that there would be no water. Manager lacked human kindness, concern, and customer service skills. Opposite of Hospitality. DO not give these people your hard earned money. Go somewhere else.

I was so comfortable here and breakfast was awesome. The room was clean, huge and very nice and comfortable. The restrooms were fine with me. Personal was so kind, nice and wonderful. This place will be my place to stay if I ever drop by in town again. Thank you for the awesome service.

We love this hotel because the staff is so wonderful. The facilities are being renovated, so the rooms will be nicer once they're done. Breakfast includes eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuits, gravy, fruit and more! Can't beat the location either, close to beach, 101 freeway and lots of restaurants. We hope to stay there again and again!

I gave this hotel 5 stars, not because it was perfect, but because the location, price, and courtesy of the workers were all outstanding. Walking distance to the beach, pier, and downtown. Decent view of the ocean from our 3rd floor room (although a bridge partially obstructed the view). Enclosed balcony was nice for reading. Great breakfast. Really nice people at the front desk. Wonderful pillows. We look forward to visiting again.

The hotel is currently under construction, so I'm curious how it will turn out. But for now, the room we're in is comfortable and clean. The hotel is generally quiet and in a great location for walking to Main Street. They're currently offering awesome perks: free wine and beer tastings and included breakfast. The only downside is the water temp and pressure; the water wildly fluctuates from hot to cold and comes out at a trickle. I think it's due to the construction so I'm hoping it'll be better the next time we stay here. Yes, I like this place enough to already know we're coming back!

I would stay here again. Convenient location, easy on and off the freeway. Close to the Ocean. The breakfast included eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy among other things. The breakfast attendant was very attentive and friendly. I agree with other reviews that, while quite clean and comfortable the rooms feel dated and would do well with an update.

I would give this establishment 0 stars if it let me but I have to put one to post. The reason is, our stay was HORRIBLE!!!! The customer service was sickening. The beds are uncomfortable. The food was absolutely aweful. I thought well you can't go wrong with fruit, so I grabbed a bowl of fruit. I was wrong, the fruit was awefully flavorless. That also went in the trash. And how is a passport a valid ID every in the world for alcohol but not good enough for this hotel staff? I will NEVER stay here again and I will tell all my friends the same. Don't waste your money, you'd be better off at Motel 6. The best part is, I paid cash for my room and for some reason had my card charged a $250 deposit + $144.48 for the night that I already paid for in cash and only had $144.48 put back on my card. Where is my $250 and why was I not told about this ridiculous fee?!?!?!

Hotel was clean but older and outdated. Needs to be remodeled very bad. Good location as it is next to the beach and that's what you're paying for. The couch in the suite should have been thrown away 20 years ago.

Nice hotel, nice amenities, nice staff. Bad location right next to freeway AND Amtrak. Yikes.

The location is great! The staff is wonderful and the breakfast is good so far, only had it once. The room is large and clean. They are doing some needed renovation so it will be even better soon. Great place for the cost.

So happy with our four night family stay here. We needed dog friendly lodging but Vagabond was so much more. Desk staff accommodated our special requests and made coffee especially for our early morning departure. Loved walking to cute Ventura town center and our son enjoyed park across the street. We will be staying here again.
