I really loved this place. The reason for only 3 stars is because of the confusing question to why they don't update the rooms a bit. It's in my opinion Kind of a shame because its hard to recommend it to anyone beings it's hard to explain a category that the hotel rooms fit into. I had one of the 2 deluxe rooms and it's huge with a backdoor and privet deck yet there isn't even a clock in the room😒 Also maintenance type repairs seem so cheaply done or rigged for a temporary fix. Hmmmmmm makes no sense. Also curtains need cleaning. I am not a clean freak or normally a picky person but was really confused by these things. Staff was so sweet. Food at their Shoals restaurant was very good. Property very well kept. BEAUTIFUL VIEW and a walk way so you can walk along the water without even getting wet if you choose.

Love the location. It's an be older place but cozy. Beds are comfy. We usually come here in cooler weather as there's no AC. The views are nice and it's a quiet place to relax. For the price, ocean view doesn't get any better. At night, leave windows open and can hear waves all night. Just minutes drive from Santa Barbara. The restaurant downstairs is actually pretty good too. Cyclist can also pick up the bike road along the highway from here which is very scenic.

The VERY basic room was definitely not worth the price. Stuffy! No air conditioning or ceiling fan. All windows and curtains needed to be open all night which resulted in lack of privacy and noise as people passed by the balcony and from the pool area.
The restaurant was horrible! Service ranged from "very slow" to "not-at-all". We waited 20 minutes without any water glass refills or any waiter interaction at all. Food was extremely disappointing! After reading some of the excellent ratings regarding the restaurant I must assume it all depends on who the chef is that night.
The only saving grace was the ocean view especially the sunset.response / report this review -

My favorite spot for my birthday (August) and our anniversary (December)
We’ve been coming for the past several years! No, it’s not the 4 Seasons, but it’s, quiet, quaint, romantic, and you can listen to the ocean all night long! The restaurant never disappoints, and the lovely staff has been around for years! A quick hour drive from Los Angeles, a nice shopping trip at the Camarillo Outlets on the way. Plenty to do and see in Santa Barbara and Solvang!response / report this review -

Location can't be beat: right on the ocean! We were in Room 24, which has the best view, but all rooms have good views. Very family friendly with a ping pong table and other games. Friendly and helpful staff. The restaurant is also very good and not overly priced for the location; about $25 per person. Our room had a mini - refrigerator. Just be aware that the rooms are dated but clean and comfortable. They have heat but no air conditioning (which is rarely needed). The hotel is a wonderful romantic location as long as you don't expect the rooms to be fancy.

The staff and view were pleasant. The actual hotel room was definitely not worth the price. No A/C requires you to keep your windows open at night to try to stay cool but it didn't help. There were no fans in the room. The freeway and train run right behind the rooms so there is constant noise keeping you up. The rooms did not supply blow dryers, irons with ironing boards, or coffee makers so make sure you bring them if you decide to stay. We would have been more comfortable at a motel 6.

I am rating this on a past experience when I had lunch with one of my best friends who is now deceased. It was my first time of many back in 2007. I went there for my honeymoon. Quite remarkable. I need to go back soon

I am a returning customerwhile I love #24 for its view and privacy, I have to give up on the restauranttwice I have made a reservationand twice, I have been hustled through my meal (once with company!) once because a large party was waiting to be seated? Really? Who cares? The longer we sat there, the ruder my server gotmind you, between appetizers, entrees and wine, we were crossing the 200.00 mark, and hadn't ordered dessert yet. The other time, we were one of two parties in the entire restaurant. They wanted to close earlywe wanted to sit and enjoy our bottle of wine and the eveningagainthe longer we sat, the ruder they got - dishes were being crashed around ustables dragged around loudlyridiculousI'm done

Quaint, beautiful views, great staff, Amazing beyond 5 star restaurant! You will not be disappointed! Will definitely be coming back again and again :-)

Wow what an amazing 3 day valentines weekend! Raining all day of our arrival (romantic) and sunny & clear for the remainder of our stay. We fell more in love❤️ we can't wait to go back. The staff & restaurant food was great!
