There was heavy construction going on. We were not informed of this at check-in. We checked-in at 10:00pm after 7 hours on the road looking forward to rest. Instead we were awakened at 6:30am by heavy equipment working on what sounded like asphalt demo and removal. From the looks of it this had been going on for a while. Not being able to sleep we left early. I spoke to the person in charge and she has no explanation on why I was not informed. I asked why there is no sign letting guests know the situation. This apparently had not occurred to them, she thought this was a novel idea and would take it under consideration. I got the obligatory "I understand how you feel" line. Well practiced but cold and empty nonetheless. I was told the resort manager would get a hold of me. Three days wait on that so far. I was only refunded the resort fee I still had to pay for the room.

The location is okay nothing too interesting around besides a few shops places to eat. The rooms were good but the shower looked old and had a mat under the mat were brown spots. Service was prompt and extremely nice the breakfast was amazing as was dinner. The pricing was 149$ a night and tax not the greatest pricing. We called the hotel when scheduling a room and they mislead us we came at 2:00AM we slept that night and the night after but they told us it would count as 1 night and when we got there it was counted as 2 nights we checked in on January 23rd but charged us for staying on January 22nd. Overall not a pleasant experience would not recommend it considering there are so many other better and cheaper hotels near this one.

We reserved a room with a king bed. It was a LONG walk with our stuff to the room. Went to our room and walked in to an occupied room with people and stuff in it. That was embarrassing considering the state of the people in the room.

Took all our stuff back to the car.

At the desk explaining what happened. They called the room as though they didn't believe me. No one answer. The lady looked at the computer and says there was no one in that room last night. I told her there were people in there now. Then she tried to call facilities in the radio. No one answered them. Like I was lying about the room being occupied.. really there were people in the room. Can I have another?

A small I'm sorry from the desk and then another room.

Made the walk all the way up to that room. It has two beds. Called the desk- they said sorry.

Not impressed with the service. The room is fine but not nicer than a room for less at a hotel that is it full service.

It was once a great resort.. Hope they can restore it to its former glory some day. Just about everything other than the lobby needs a face-lift. The elevator needs some serious repair Bumpy ride, door randomly opens and closes, funky smells. Good value for the price.

Beautiful, historic resort - built in the 1920s, and renovated since. Unfortunately, with the commercialization of the resort by Crowne Plaza, much of the history has been forgotten and customer service has suffered. Most of the employees do not seem excited to be working there. Room service only switches out the towels (no cleaning). Bottled water is only given on first day (so cheap). Not a family-oriented atmosphere. The outdated condition of the resort can be overlooked (as some historic features are unique and interesting), if only customer service stepped up their game. Switched resorts after 2 nights.

    Don't stay here.

    June 4 Room 317.

The young lady on duty at the front desk when we checked in was quite pleasant. Her customer service skills were top notch.

The hotel is in a great location.

The lobby was very attractive. (Loved Mr. Chandler's Ford).

We thought the price was an incredible bargain, but upon checkout we discovered we paid a Resort Fee for amenities we did not use (pool, golf, etc). We did not appreciate the misleading pricing advertising.

Our balcony looked out on a vacant lot, and the "view" was blocked by overgrown vegetation.

The hotel had an overall tired appearance and looked in need of a refresh.

We noted the following items in our room:

The security lock was barely attached to the door frame.

The entire bathroom should be replaced. It was dirty, broken, clogged, moldy, cracked, and otherwise unappealing.

The sliding mirrored closet doors need attention.

The carpet is frayed (as it is in the east elevator).

A steel wire spring is peeking out from beneath the sleeper.

The air conditioner is alarmingly noisy upon start up.

On the night of the 5th we returned from dinner and were exposed to chemical fumes from approximately 8:45 P.M. until after 10 P.M. The front desk told us maintenance was refinishing tubs.

The Crowne Plaza brand once meant high quality. Your location in downtown is enviable. We were very disappointed in our stay.

I am happy to report that the hotel now has refrigerators in every room (at least mine)! Yes, it is an older property (1912), but it is remodeled, the rooms and bathrooms are spacious and updated, beds are comfortable, and the A/C worked perfectly in 118-degree F heat. The restaurants are pleasant, the pool looked like fun, and happy hour in the bar saved money. I like how the hotel displays its fascinating history in captioned pictures in the hallway near one restaurant. I'd stay there again, and am planning to!

This hotel holds a lot of memories for me, and despite the name change, I'll always call it San Marcos. My grandfather worked here as a caddy on the golf course. It was the site of some epic parties for me, and my littlest brother just had his prom pictures here. The resort is always going to be an important part of Chandler, and well worth visiting.

Good hotel, good service located in the heart of Chandler. The hotel has good access to a golf course and other amenities. It's an older hotel with personality and charm

The room is nice and spacious, but lacks the amenities I would expect, such as a microwave and refrigerator. There's a large balcony as well with a table and two chairs overlooking a good view of the courtyard. The front desk staff have all been friendly and helpful, and the maid service is good. The location is a nice central spot in Chandler, with easy access to the freeways and not too far from the major Phoenix area attractions. The grounds are beautiful, and attending a wedding here as well, the events facilities are quite nice. The historical aspect of the hotel adds to the ambiance. The food provided by the hotel for the event was sadly a little under par, but most of the guests seemed happy enough. We were sad to find the elevator in our section of the hotel out of service for at least several hours on our second day, and have not returned yet to see if it is yet repaired.

Way to expensive for the location. Rooms were nice but the bed squeaked and creaked when you got up. No refrigerator, no extra pillows and to greet you in the morning is a cold egg and country potatoes in the morning (Order fresh from the menu).

The grounds are nice, it is walking distance to downtown where the shops and eateries are. I loved staying there, we'll be back. It is loud next to the event room and front desk should have told us that they had an event going on.
