I haven't been to the capital in many years so I thought it would be a great tour to take my in laws to. Unfortunately our tour guide ruined the experience. He was very talkative but was not informative. I learned more about side stories and his opinions than the actual history of the building. I'm so disappointed. That's the whole reason we came.
Usually only come here in summer and at Christmas for their awesome lights. Here today and the wife took a good pic, must share. Got to love Denver.
The distinctness of each States’ Capitol building never ceases to amaze me. Colorado’s is no exception with huge, elegant dome stretching into the cloudless blue sky. The officers are security are super helpful not only for instructions at the Capitol but also for recommendations around the city.
Cool historic building. Underwent restoration a few years ago. Looks gorgeous. Must go through TSA like screening to get into the building. Very informative free tour of the building and its history. Take lots of pictures. There is an information desk at the Colfax entrance. Bathrooms are in the basement.
I grew up in Denver and now live 1 block from the capitol. I love bringing my dog here at night to chase rabbits. It's the only park around west cap hill that is very dog friendly!!
I loved this great monument full of history and interests, I love every time I visit it with my family, it's worth it, I love the shops near this great monument.
The interior is very dark and foreboding for a state capitol, which is not a plus. They really need to redo the lighting. It's a beautiful building though, with some pretty stunning stained glass throughout the place.
There is a tour every hour starting at 10:00 and ending at 3:00. The tour was really informative! We enjoyed our time here a lot. Thank you!
Very historic place. Yet the homeless around it is bad. Other than that, a great place to show your kids.
Great and educational, had an amazing time. They really know how to explain and take your questions well. 10/10 would go again!
Please what a joke of a building all built on murder and lies. I went on a feildtrip with my daughter & her class. They did nothing but lie about how they aquired the land from the Indians. Not once did they mention the slaughter or poisoning. And what the building really representsThey barely mention indians at all& have one picture of a few teepees PerfectBS for how they continue to lie 2 us all in the entire US.
Haven't taken the Grand Tour yet, but from an outside perspective, the reflections in the afternoon sun carry away some of the weight and heaviness of the grind. My impressions are warm, mirthful, even cheery. Rallies are right around frontI breathe easier when I tilt my head.
Beautiful! Second only to the Texas Capital building. Any history buff must go. And to stand at the very top rotunda and look out to see so far away takes your breath away. To stand there and look out and see what our forefathers saw - vast and open land - beautiful
I've seen better looking Capitol buildings, but it's the grounds, the park & the flower gardens between here & the Civic Center that make this one of the best in America.
As a voting taxpayer for a good number of years, it was about time to actually visit the capitol, with out of state guests of course. It provides a smaller, more western take on the US Capitol, with access to many interior hallways as well as senate and house chambers. We visited on a working day and saw a number of legislators, who no doubt worked hard to be elected and are well known to the politically connected, as well as the requisite lobbyists and so on. The views are striking and the marble and granite are quite incredible, worth taking a look at as you walk the halls and staircases.
