After you finished using Charmin or that single ply from the dollar store, where does it go? Students from the Richmond County Technical Career Magnet School recently visited the Wastewater Treatment Plant of Augusta to find out. Turns out it is a lot more complicated than collecting, separating, aging and adding chemicals to your waste, then hauling some of it away as fertilizer. Don't worry the corn in your poop doesn't go to fertilize crops, this isn't North Korea.Our trip lasted about six hours. Some students went on to take the course "Waste Water Treatment" at TCM and were offered jobs. We didn't go for the smell of it!
