It was very accceptable. Quiet area. Beds were nice. Room needed to be heated once We got settled, heater worked great. Very nice staff. Make sure you get a phone number for front desk, after certain hour the front office door is locked and the door bell is broken.
Place wasn't as "comfortable" as Expected. First check in staff was friendly next morning new staff totally unpleasant. Paid for 2 nights. Housekeeping didn't even knock & walked right in the room. Which why? - The room obviously hadn't been cleaned in who knows how long. Single shoe & sock (not from us) under the bed. Along with old pieces of food, chips, bathroom had bugs in tile grout.. Let's Not forget to mention the "turtle" floating in the john.yeah, Really!! Not a single garbage can could be found in the entire room. Got a smoking room and no ashtray could be found either.Would Not Recommended.. They should pay me to stay here!
Everything at least worked as it should. Cleaning was a little lacking but not too bad. That being said, I'm giving the location a 3 but the people a 1. It took almost an hour to check in (we were the only ones in line!!!) and after all that time only 1 of two keys worked. In addition, I went to eat breakfast and I cleaned up a bit of a mess. I finally got a plate and sat down, and the guy in the office said my time was up, made me throw away mine and my toddlers plate, and kicked us out. This is the same guy who couldn't figure out how to check us in and spent 5 minutes just trying to clarify if we have a pet with us. Good riddance, not going back if that guy is there.
Horriable customer service, asked for a non smoking room and there were cigarette burns on all the blankets, room smelled really bad. Would recommend never staying here, front desk gentlemen was very rude and short.
Beware of this motel. The only reason I chose this place was to save a little money and be close to what I was doing during the weekend I was in Salt Lake. I definitely got what I paid for. Upon check-in, the front desk guy lost my reservation and then was disrespectful to me when I told him and showed him that I had a booking through Expedia. They had no more king bed rooms (which I had booked) and so I stayed in a room with two queens. The room was a little run down. It felt dirty and there were people smoking right outside my windows. On the third night of my stay, I went to open the door of my room and my key did not work. I went down to the same front desk guy as before and he "re-magnetized" my key. Still did not work. He then proceeded to have me come back to the front desk 3 more times to retry. After no results still, he had to go plunge the toilet of another guest's room and left me waiting outside my door with all my belongings still locked inside for an additional 30 minutes. After about an hour total of waiting outside my room, the maintenance guy came and unlocked my door and told me the battery on the door handle was dead. I grabbed my stuff, called Expedia and told them I wanted a refund for the night and to book another hotel elsewhere. This place is extremely low quality and the front desk guy treated me with absolutely no respect. They did in fact refund me for the one night, but only after 20 more minutes of having to call the owner. Don't stay here!
The price fit the room. Low price, Low quality room. We checked in and found there was a $40 cash deposit is required if paying cash or debit card - when we called to verify if cash was accepted no one expressed that this was required, the hotel should make this very well known to help their guests arrive prepared.
Upon arriving to the room we noticed immediately that it smelled, it smelled musty, old and just down right unpleasant, the room was incredibly hot and the A/C after working on trying to figure out how to properly turn it on, that smelled too.
The odor problem got worse in the closet/sink area near the bathroom, it smelled like some kind of animal urine was soaked into the carpet, and it stayed that way the entire time we were there.
The sheets had cigarette burns in them, stains and were discolored.
The shower/tub faucet leaked water all over the floor anytime we used it.
When I called to get a wake up call, the hotel staff told me they didn't offer that, and that I needed to use my cell phone. Which made sense because there was no desk clock/alarm in the room anyway.
Be prepared to be settled in next to some unsavory type neighbors, the kind that leave beer bottles and used cigarettes all over the breezeways, and stairs.
The kind that will have shouting matches in front of your door at 4am shouting obscenities like 'Damn n***a, I told your dumb***, F****n Bullsh**"
The kind that require cops to come patrolling the hotel for, in search of someone they were looking for.
DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN. I would not have stayed here if I traveled with my kids, it was myself and my husband so I was fine dealing with the dirty conditions and sketchy characters.
If I had been traveling by myself and not with my husband, I would not have stayed here.
When we checked out, the man behind the counter was hesitant in giving us our $40 deposit because we didn't bring our receipt from check in. The receipt that was a COPY of the receipt that they gave us. We presented our ID's, our room keys, and he STILL wanted to say they needed the receipt. WHY? its a copy of what THEY GAVE US.
He relented and gave us our deposit.
The only positive remark I gave 2 stars for was - the breakfast area. It was clean, and well stocked with good breakfast options.
Summary:
The room smelled I believe as a result of the dirty carpet. The people who have, what look like long term rental there, are definitely sketchy.
If you want cheap, you got it.
Don't expect anything nice. Except for breakfast, breakfast was nice.
I will not be staying here again.
Never coming back again.
The first thing I noticed about this place was how dirty it was. There is what seems to be vomit on the sidewalks, stains in the carpets, and many bugs.
I have had to go back to the front desk to get 7 (not an exaggeration) different keys due to being locked out. I made sure to keep the keys away from my cell phone.
To add the cherry on top of this unpleasant stay, as we are flipping through the channels on the television my family and I saw porn.
We waited about 45 minutes to speak with an unapologetic manager.
Not. Happy.
City Creek was a decent hotel. We stayed overnight. The outside swimming pool was nice to cool off from the hot sun. The beds were pretty comfortable. The overnight stay was pretty expensive.
Worst hotel ever. First it's next door to a homeless shelter, which creates a pretty hostile environment. We never did reach our room as a person was passed out high as a kite on the stairs and we could not get passed. We had my mother in a wheelchair and were told we would want a second floor room because it was "safer". When we couldn't reach the floor we went to the front desk who refused to go out in the dark and have the man moved. We were expected to wait until he did. Then after all that we called expedia to get a new hotel and this one denied the refund. Spend the extra cash and go somewhere you may live.
The staff was welcoming and the rooms were clean and simple. It's not in the greatest location, however, if you're looking for a single night it gets the job done. After coming back to SLC from a week of hiking in Zion and Bryce National Parks a warm shower was welcoming. I wouldn't call it home base for an SLC vacation, but if you're like me and need a no thrills overnighter close to the airport then this is the place.
Family owned business. They care about the customers. Friendly helpful staff. Thank you for your good service and listening to your customers needs and request. Convenient and affordable priced for downtown!
I wasn't there for an overnight stay but to visit with my parents and change our clothes for our trip home. The neighborhood was mediocre at best and the motel wasn't much better. The rooms need serious updating from floor to ceiling but was about what I expected. The price you pay for the motel ($65/ night) is so not worth it, they shouldn't be asking for more than $35/night. When you walk in the office there is no one to greet you. You have to ring a little bell on the desk to get someones attention just to check in and you would expect your room to be ready for you but no you can't even expect that; you have to request that a blanket and comforter be put on your bed. This place will never receive my business ever! I'm just sorry my parents had to.
No problems checking in. No deposit required. Checked in quickly and efficiently.
Refrigerator and microwave included in the price, not an additional charge.
Capable and friendly front desk attendant.
