This place offers amazing views of the mountains. Go to the top of the dam at sunset for an incredible experience. There is an awesome 360 degree view from the dam, offering fantastic scenery of both Littleton/Denver and the foothills. The road is well maintained, but the entrance is currently under construction. The reservoir is very large, and seems to host many fisherman and water sport enthusiasts. The park was not crowded when I went, but would imagine it's fairly packed on days with great weather.

Lots of opportunity for an escape from the city without a long drive. Plenty of paved trails for walking, running, or cycling with some dirt/gravel trails for hiking and gravel/mountain biking. Very scenic area with a mix of marshes and grasslands to the lake and beaches. Plenty of camping and RV or even just picnic spots here as well. I spent a full day here and only explored half of the shore! I will definitely be back.

I like this park more every time we visit. Great for easy hiking, mountain biking, and all sorts of water sports. It's super accessible too. I've come here for day trips and multiple day stays in the campground. Even though it can get busy in the summer, the park and campground are set up so that you still feel pretty secluded.

This was my first time and not my last! 68 acres of Dog Park Heaven! I wish all dog parks were like this one! Everyone was friendly and everyone kept the park clean. My dog loved the water and the open space. Glad I went this morning! Construction is ongoing even in the Dog park.

We have only really gone to the dog park here, which is very large. With a couple ponds and a small river. It was bird dog heaven on our last visit however, so we have to work a bit on that the next time we go there.
Around the dog park and throughout the park are trails to walk with or without a furry friend. The lake is undergoing some work right now, which I believe is supposed to be complete for the summer season.

Chatfield State Park is one of the prettiest state parks I have stayed in. The campgrounds are laid out nice. There are pay showers and washer and driers. After hours check in was easy to do.

We were facing the lake and the sunsets were spectacular. The
campground and the whole park was quiet and clean. Lots of things to keep busy with here in the park. We didn't have enough time to go explore b all the activities. Hopefully next time we can stay longer.

So clean and pretty. There were cactus in the field!!! That was a fun surprise. But someone had sprinkled bird food around so there were lots of little morning finches. The rangers were awesome!! Had an impressive swearing in ceremony to make my kids office junior rangers. It was a blast! Oh and hot air balloons, even though the big event was cancelled

This is a beautiful Park. It is clean well spaced and thought out. Very convenient to the Denver area. The park is extremely large with many things to do with different Lake areas four different types of activities. Anything from fishing to kayaking to sail boats to speed boats, walking jogging hiking you name it they have it. However it did not get a V Star because the same day reservations are extremely inconvenient because you cannot guarantee your spot until 1 p.m. and thereafter.

    Update!
They are no longer having the breakfast buffet, so sad. I sure do miss seeing my friend Dan at the marina. 😯, and I will never forget the cabbage rolls he made from his mother's recipe., outstanding. I've had the pleasure of meeting so many of you this summer here at the lake, just know I appreciate every conversation and thanks for the laughs. I'm adding more pictures from this afternoon.Keep checking back - there's a lot of boating, cookouts and fun in the sun left this year 😎

Had lots of fun with the family here. $8 a car, can't beat that. Be sure to bring your own toilet paper and soap or sanitizer though because the bathrooms aren't kept very stocked or clean for that matter, so make sure you're whole family has shoes yo wear inside there. Would have given it 5 stars if they kept up on the restrooms. I understand it must be hard to keep up with so many people though because it gets PACKED! Hence the 4 stars. If everyone helped out by keeping themselves as well as their kids in line as to not make such a mess then it wouldn't be an issue. People these days are just so inconsiderate though it's quite sad. I guess we are lucky this is still available to us and for such a low price! Very well worth it.

Love to take the family kayaking from the beach. It's a beautiful park with an amazing view of the mountains from the water. Dog park is amazing for the pups. We always get a state park annual pass so we can enjoy all the park has to offer throughout the year.

A nice pond of water just for SUP and hand-prop boats. Clear water visible to 6'. Lots of visitors. All it takes is one group that thinks their music can outblast other's. Even when the parking is at full capacity, there's enough area on the water to peddle. Night time paddling is quite popular, too. Very few biting insects comes out after sun set.

We come here for the dog park. It's amazing! There are two giant ponds the dogs can jump in and a bunch of trails for you to walk along. People are friendly and most people pick up after their dogs.

Busy in the morning on the weekends but seems to get quite at night so if you want some time to yourself, nights are the way to go!

I have been here many times, and I always enjoy it. Most of the the time I visit the dog park. I think it's one of the best in the Denver area. Lots of space for dogs to run around and lots of water for them to play in. Can get a bit crowded on busy days. The rest of the park is great also. If your a biker, lots of trails and easy to get to on a bike from anywhere in Denver. Its just a nice place to be for whatever it is you want to do, from fishing, boating, swimming, or a nice walk around. Some nice views also.
