If you live within 50 miles or more of Madison you already know Cecil, and that there is no where else you should go for your leather goods/shoe repair. So for all you Madison area new arrivals: go to Cecil’s. Conveniently positioned on Odana road with easy in and out access. Friendly staff, great prices, talented craftsmen and women. Generally finished my projects within a few days to a week (pre pandemic). Highly recommend!

Great little shop. They have fixed my boots for 12 years including sole and heal repair. I picked up my wingtips a few weeks ago and the soles look brand new.

Normally a great experience and I love supporting a local business. Apparently Covid produced a lot of business and they got way behind. Took my leather bag in to them early February 2020 and was told end of February pick-up. It wasn’t ready in early March when I went in so I continued to contact them (they’ve not ever reached out to me) each month about pick-up. It’s now almost September and for the third time I’ve been told they will work on it today and it will be finished and ready for pick-up tomorrow. We’ll see.
The reason I’m posting is to suggest a different retailer for timely repairs until Cecil’s catches up.

Thought my favorite Merrell riding boots were at the end of their life, but brought them in and they shined and waterproofed them back to beautiful for only twelve bucks. And they were done in one day. Absolutely would go back!

This cobbler repair store had some old-fashioned charm, and fixed my hiking boots in a day (so I had them in time for a trip) at a great price - and even cleaned and buffed them for me!

Cecil's had always been my shoe repair stop. No longer. Brought in a $325.00 pair of shoes. Cecile said it would be a week. Took 5 weeks; only after I called them
3 times did they finally fix the shoes. Went to pick them up & the edges & top of edges of the soles were painted black. This is on a pair of light brown shoes. Was not happy. Asked them to remove the dark color & restore to brown. After 2 weeks I called & they couldn't find them. They were going to call me back. Never did. One week later I stopped in and requested. Cecile went right to them. They were done & I had not been notified. The edges had been corrected, however the top of the edges were still dark. As I now look down at the shoes I see a nice pair of brown wing tips wirh dark around them.

"Fixed" my shoes. Horrible stitch job, which looks like a sewing machine exploded. This damaged my shoes even further so I was unable to continue wearing them or option to get them fixed by another person. Very disappointed.

I dropped of a pair of Dansk's about 2 weeks ago to have the back heel fixed. I had not received a call from them after 2 weeks so I called them after 2 weeks and a 2 days only to get the run around. I asked the gentleman that answered the phone if they were done and he said he needed to ask another guy and would call me back after several hours later I called again and was told the something. I explained to him that I needed these shoes for work and that I would be going back in 2 days to work ( I was on vacation ) he told me they would call when my shoes where done after they found them!!! I called about a little bit before 6 to see if the found my shoes and he said yes. On Saturday morning I called again to see if my shoes would be done today and he said again that they would call when done at that point to told him I would be in within a few hours to pick them up even if they have not been repaired ! When I came into the store he said that he could not find my shoes !!! I was very irritated at this time because less then 24 hours he had told me that they found my shoes!! I explained again that I needed them for work as I am required to wear black shoes he told me when he found them he would let me know !! and that he had a call into the person that was suppose to fix them I never saw him on the phone . I asked if I could help him look for them and he said no and just sat down and looked at me and said he would call my work and let them know about my shoes and I said no you can just find my shoes or go up to Reagans and buy me a new pair. A friend of his stopped in to see him and at that time I decided to look be hide the counter for my shoes and guess what I found them!! NOT TO HARD!!!! of course the were never repaired !! During this time in his store which was maybe 45 minutes several customers came in to get their shoes repaired and I made sure they knew what happened to me and not one of the customers stayed. I use to take everything there and have also recommend others to go there BUT NO MORE !!!

Monroe Street shoe repair couldn't re-glue the sole of my boots back on. Cecil's made them like new, in 3 days, for half the price of Monroe Street. Super happy with their service.
