Just too crowded for me they need to maybe put an outdoor event tent for things on the weekend so that there's more room when it's cold out to go outside to. Bartender was not consistent with the drinks one drink will be really strong the next week or the week and the Guinness Stout with not poured properly

If you're looking to come here for a good time in the latter hours on the weekends you'll find it, but as soon as you start showing the slightest bit of intoxication the bouncers will immediately start harassing you, and then if you're like me and don't appreciate condescending remarks like the ones they were making, you will get kicked out for saying something simple back to them, also my friend was assaulted by one of the bouncers while he was getting kicked out right behind me, the bouncer head butted him while one of the other bouncers held his hands behind his back, then walked off, leaving my friend with a swollen forehead, what a real man he is. After all of this the head bouncer/owner/or supervisor came to talk with us outside about the head butting that had ensued when my friend got kicked out. My friend was slurring and cursing because he was still angry, and the guy we were speaking with was in no way a help to the problem either, after speaking with him he called law enforcement, giving them our descriptions, and all the bars in the area so we could not go to any of them! Then he went and got the bouncer that head butted my friend and let him leave and walked out with him so we wouldn't do anything! So if you go to portofinos it's not okay to be intoxicated but perfectly fine to assault people, that's what I got from this whole situation! I'm guessing him and the other bouncer were lovers and that's why he was defending his actions, that's none of my concern either way!

This has been my favorite place to eat in Boone for quite a few years now. Prices are pretty good for the amount of food you receive. The food is really unbeatableSo much flavor in everything. I don't know that I've ever had a dish there that I did not like.

Visiting Boone for a softball camp. Cafe Portofino was recommended to our group. The location was convenient, near campus. The restaurant had a "bar" type feel. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive. My steak was cooked just as I asked and was very tasty. Everyone else enjoyed their meals. Our daughters chicken parmesan was burnt and when brought to the waitresses attention she promptly had another. I would recommend this restaurant.

Great pasta, wraps, and sandwiches. The appetizers are especially good (the garlic knots!). Service is good too. Indoor and outdoor seating.

Favorite restaurant in downtown Boone. Whenever we make our 2.5 hour commute, we always stop here. Can't go wrong with their pasta dishes, but also enjoy the burgers and the wraps (never had anything we didn't enjoy). Decent craft beer selection. Never had to wait for a table and always great, knowledgeable, and personable wait staff. Our recent experience was with Brooke as our waitress, and she was awesome. Definitely worth the stop while in the Boone/Blowing Rock Area.

Excellient food and service! We went to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday with a group of 12 people. Everyone loved their food. The service was great. The server didi a wonderful job explaining the menu and bringing us drinks. I had the rasta pasta and the flavors were great. My girlfriend had the grown up mac and cheese and she feel in love with it. We had not been here in years but we will be making it our regular place to go from now on. The beer and wine selction is great and so are the desserts. Staff is very friendly!

The food was very good. Had excellent server (hans). Downside was the amount of cigarette smoke. With 2 outside eating areas, one should be for non-smokers.

Went there last night for the first time ever and accidentally tried to enter in through the wrong way. The bouncer directed me to the proper entrance where I showed my ID and received a wristband. I wasn't in there for even 3 minutes before the first bouncer caught up with me and told me to leave based on a false presumption that I had entered in through the wrong way. I was forced to leave even after showing my wristband and offering to show my ID. The bouncer who gave me my wristband tried explaining that I had done nothing wrong, but the other bouncers singled me out. VERY poor service and conduct, I've never been more insulted in my life. Avoid the bouncer who goes by Jeremy, tried reasoning with him (sober) and it was like talking to a wall. Would not recommend trying this bar.

Great patio service on Friday afternoon. They were kind to the pup we brought with us and the food was tasty. Always a good spot.

Basic and almost rustic in decor. Absolutely loved the service we received. The food was great. Plan on looking hard for parking. The whole area of Boone can be a difficult place to find parking. They have TV's everywhereBut hey you are in a college town. You can dress up or wear your jeans and t-shirt and not be out of place. Definitely recommend.
