If I were 20 again I'd enjoy the Bourbon Barrel more. It's a great place with an attractive crowd. It's big enough that you aren't overwhelmed by the amount of people there. True to their name, they feature a lot of Bourbon, although, bring your wallet. It's expensive, even for Jack or Jim. The bartenders don't have any idea what each whiskey costs (other than Jack or Jim) so if you ask they have to go to the POS and look it up. It's pretty annoying to them and to the customer because they place does get busy. It would be better if they had a price list they could hand you, so you could see the vast selection and the price. All I'm saying is they could sell a lot more bourbon if they marketed the bourbon instead of creating a curiosity display. Most customers ask for a Bud Lt instead since they are more interested in hooking up, but I say keep it real. If you want to be the bourbon place, own that. They have a mechanical bull. Some might find it cheesy, but it's an interesting diversion to watch from time-to-time. They also have a unique second floor balcony with couches and comfy chairs "inside" that you can get away from the crowd if you so choose. This is not a joke. They have the cleanest, nicest men's room of any bar in Erie. It's really well done, and no waiting as they have a half dozen urinals. It's something I don't normally notice, but the Bourbon Barrel does a great job and it's appreciated. It's nicer than the Sheraton. I see they now stock Lavery Dulachan. Kudos for that, and hopefully they will carry a couple others. I only wish they had a draft system with a few local beers on tap. Oh well, Dulachan it is. They have a great venue for local bands and a very large dance floor. All in all, the Bourbon Barrel is a great establishment for what it is. A cool place to have fun and maybe meet someone.

Okay so it is possible that I just don't fit the type of crowd that this place is trying to appeal to, but I have tried on multiple occasions to enjoy this place. On one particular night, a large group of us were trying to get in, and after most of our group paid the disappointingly normal cover charge, someone near the back of our group was denied entry. This person is one of our good friends from Saudi Arabia and the racist bouncer at the door confused him for someone they kicked out earlier in the night. So we of course had to leave if someone in our group was denied entry. We didn't even enter the bar yet we were still in the breezeway and the bouncers refused to refund us our covers for those of us who had already paid. He did so with also an accompanying smart and frankly offensive comment. That night ruined any chances of us ever returning to this bar but honestly I don't think we are missing out on anything.

Fun place to go with free mechanical bull riding. My friends and I went on a night were it appeared there was a karaoke contest, which was pretty neat, but sometimes the music was a little too loud and boring. Furthermore, the atmosphere is really cool, very country and the shots were reasonably priced at 4 or 5 dollars a shot.
The issue I had with this place was the overcharged my boyfriend on his drink and then gave him a token, even though at this point we were leaving soon. Also, the bathroom floor was extremely wet in one of the stalls and there were no paper towels unless you went into the handicap stall.

The food was nothing special at all. The bourbon selection, however, was glorious. I love bourbon, so being able to try so many that I'd never find in the liquor store was great. Don't come here just for the food, come for the booze.

Gorgeous rustic atmosphere! I wouldn't go anywhere else for a Kentucky Mule. They have great food, pleasant servers/bartenders. The bull rides are awesome and I catch the live music nights as much as possible. Have been to several parties hosted here which are always a fun time especially when decorated for the holidays. And hands down the best Halloween party in all of erie!

This is a terrific place to gather with people you enjoy being with. My sibs and I were here in February for a birthday celebration. We loved it. I wanted to take my husband and we did that for MY birthday. He loved it too. The bourbon flights are a great way to figure out your bourbon of choice. So, after having tested it out twice we will be bringing our friends. Also, the wait staff were very friendly and welcoming.
