Excellent place to eat!! One of the best barbecue spots around and the atmosphere is also very pleasant. We ordered the Pork shoulder, brisket, mac and cheese, pork and beans. So delicious and the barbecue chips were to die for!

No question a bit commercialized but this is new York. I don't think anyone would leave unhappy and many will be delighted. It's not Hill Country but its commercial. You won't get great brisket, that's all. For that you simply must go to Hill Country

Our family from Utah recommended this place. So thankful we took up their recommendation. EVERYTHING was good. Brisket, Mac & Cheese, salads, cornbread, Season cheesecake was crazy good. You must come. It's life changing.

We visited this place on our second and last night in NYC as our apartment was across the road. It did not disappoint. Great service from all the staff! And the food was to perfection! Very impressed

This place is absolutely incredible! We went to a few of Danny Meyer's restaurants on our recent trip to NYC and this easily topped them all. Best brisket I've ever had by far. The mac and cheese was out of this world and the biscuits were great!

    Keep it up!

Hard to rate a place like this when I'm from Austin TX. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere was nice. They had good apps especially the potato chips with blue cheese dip. The ribs were a bit fatty and lacked flavor and smoke. They had a good spin on the ceasar salad. The Mac and cheese was way too creamy. I'll stick with my TX BBQ.

I wouldn't recommend this place, especially if you like barbecue. If you read a review about this place that seems too good to be true, it probably is, this restaurant is very far from a 5 star or these people have very very low expectations that are easily met. If what they served as brisket is any show for the rest of the menu you're in for a deep disappointment. The brisket was mostly gristle with very little flavor. I don't think it was barbecued at all as the flavor would have gotten in to the brisket and the fat would have been rendered down. I can honestly say there was nothing good or redeeming about this meal.

The chicken wings, while more flavorful, come out oddly cut. You don't get an actual chicken drumstick but instead get these cut down little chicken nubs with bone in the middle. It's impossible to find a way to hold these and is irritating to even attempt to eat. Chicken wings in the shape we normally them aren't broken, they don't need to be fixed by being cut down to useless little chunks of bone and meat. Good flavor, idiotic execution.

It was just an all around disappointing venture in to this place and I wouldn't waste my time going back. Giving them even one star for this still feels like I'm giving them too much.

Side's are good but my salmon wasn't cooked all the way. They called it medium rare. I call it undercooked. Peach berry crisp was delicious but our chocolate layer cake was the size of two mini peanut chews. Over priced for the type of food we as a group were expecting.

It was great southern food. The ribs, brisket & fried chicken were amazing. The macaroni and cheese was decent. I would have given 5 - but you can't be southern and not offer sweet tea. 😎

Went here with my girl on a date. We were seated quickly and the food came quickly. The ribs were very good. The main problem was that our waiter wasn't very attentive and he made a mistake about the vegetable of the day, which we didn't discover until the vegetable came. Our water glasses were half-full or less the entire dinner.
I would love to give this place five stars, but our experience with our waiter doesn't allow me to do that. I would still recommend this place to anyone that wants BBQ food.
We didn't see any jazz music.

My first time trying Brisket, it was pass over. It was phenomenal. I'm not a big meat eater so I'm generally pretty picky. It was really great. I had the Mac and cheese and potato salad sides - they were ok. Pretty good potato salad. Kinda boring Mac and cheese. A bit pricey but I did eat it for like 4 nights in a row for left overs. Good/fast service. Enough seating; was seated immediately on a Friday evening. Clean bathrooms.

I've been to Blue Smoke 3 or 4 times with a couple of years gap in between each visit. I agree with another reviewer who said the menu used to celebrate different BBQ styles and offered different BBQ sauces on the tables. All of that seems to have gone. Yes the ribs are good but you have to ask for extra sauce and what you get is just the North Carolina (I think) vinegar based sauce. No choice. So it's good but it has definitely lost something along the way that made it stand out from the crowd. Also, what's the deal with not offering fries as one of your two sides? That's just plain weird. Who doesn't like fries and coleslaw with their ribs? Feels like a ploy to make you pay extra to me. Let's rise above that team Blue Smoke. You are better than this.

Without a word of a lie, this is the best dinner I've had. The staff are more than accommodating, friendly, the food was perfect and as expected. I have the baby back ribs with the backyard chicken and brisket If I lived in New York, this would be the best place and I dare say I would do the many hour flight from Australia just to experience this again.

Great staff. Fun, friendly, fantastic. Whether visiting or a local The Smoke is so cozy and delicious with great staff. They used to have the best menu for BBQ in the city (with fry bread, and amazing wings, brussle sprouts, and BBQ from various cities). But over the years they have gone through quite a few changes with the menu. I'm told they are working to bring back many of the staples that made them a "must visit" a few years ago. Let's hope so. Plus there's live jazz downstairs that cannot be beat! I've been to Blue Smoke and Jazz Standard over 100 times. It's great for dates, family, friends, large groups, or just a table for 1.
