This is an elegant place with excellent service, food and outstanding martinis. A great place for brunch or dinner with family, friends or partners. There is a dress code so please be alert. Enjoy the atmosphere and by the way here is a lovely steak tartare.

The atmosphere is a black tie/black dress. With a call-reminder about a jacket upfront. After that it's strange to see messy looking collect pieces hanging off the ceiling. I was wondering how many spiders are working there to keep all that museum dust away of my plate. Napa Cab. Full-body was fantastic! The rabbit was boneless and amazing (thanks God didn't match the casual collection!) Scallops were average.

Came in for dinner with my son. This was our first time dining at 21 but will not be our last. We were happily greeted at the door and immediately felt welcomed. Once seated our waiter seemed to be having a bit of an off night & was super unpleasant. I was irritated as I really wanted to enjoy this night with my son. The General Manager, Teddy stopped by our table and I mentioned my disappointment with the waiter. We ended up with a different waiter (exceptional I will say) and from that moment forward Teddy made it a point to make us feel special. I will definitely return and will refer to others. FOOD & DRINK were GREAT!

Came here for restaurant week with my sister, made a reservation in advance so I didn't expect a wait of at least 15 minutes when we arrived. Great ambiance though the food wasn't anything out of the ordinary. All in all, you are dining at a historical landmark, take in your surroundings and enjoy all the decors. Be prepared to spend over $80 on lunch (the price I paid during restaurant week), though this pricetag is nothing considering the clientele there.

Snooty attitudes of staff toward those who are not "regulars" here. The vibe is "old time" New York, and it feels outdated. This famous place did not impress.

Did not expect our meal to be as good as it was, given some other reviews. But between the five of us, every single dish from appetizers through desert was delicious. The sommelier was also very helpful and fun. There is no doubt about the high prices, but you are in part paying for the ambience and experience. Highlights included the Raviolo and Tuna Tartar appetizers, as well as the Dover Sole which was cooked to perfection. The side of French Fries was also outstanding.

21 Club is a Real “New York institution” and “class operation”.
The ambiance is fun and exciting and the decor is really pretty cool. Antique toys on the ceiling all around the restaurant.

Genteel waiters and captains serve with professional aplomb, offering menu guidance with the confidence of several decades experience. Though the formality that gentleman wear neckties was dropped several years ago, jackets are still required while jeans and sneakers are prohibited.an “impeccable” staff furthers the “welcoming” vibes, though you may have to “liquidate some stocks to cover the bill.”
Food was just average.

Really a neat place to visit because of its history. If they will take you to the wine cellar, go. The wine list is impressive but the food is just ordinary.

This place has been unremarkable in food and service for a very long time. I asked for a table away from the kitchen traffic and they put us right next to the kitchen. The $70 Dover sole was chewy and over cooked. Apple tart was too sweet. The kale salad and bread were excellent, however.

This place is not terrible but it's overpriced for what you get in terms of food and service. It's surviving on reputation alone.

I went there for Restaurant Week Winter 2017.

I had reservation and when I came in, the place wasn't busy. My party of 2 still had to wait over 30 minutes to be seated.

Once seated the service was very fast, the food was brought very quickly maybe too quickly as we felt we are being rushed.

Food quality was good, size on the smaller side.

Cocktails were mediocre compared to what was expected for the price.

Dessert was better than expected - big portion and delicious.

Outdated and lacks the originality of some of the newer celebrity / modern fine dinning locations in NYC That being said an NYC dinning experience this old school and decadent has almost gone extinct in America today. The food is traditional perfection. The drinks are traditional perfection. The ambiance in this place makes you feel like a genuine adult on a night out in the 1920's. Its almost enough to make you want to take up smoking and buy your wife a real fur. This is an absolute staple in NYC for the very reason that there is no other restaurant in this city that makes you feel like your in NYC than this!
