Remembering that this Inn is totally price point, it's fantastic! I stayed in the King Balcony room on the upper level and it felt and smelled just like a grandparents home. You instantly feel cozy and start giggling at the old decor! Definitely in need of upgrades: the 60s styled bathroom has a really really weird toilet and the sink nobs are difficult to turn. The TV is so old that half the channels aren't formatted for it, but seriously who is coming here to watch TV!? The location is super peaceful. There's a large horse farm next door, and we saw so many deer romping and frolicking about. All in all I would totally stay here again, but the buildings and rooms are definitely showing a lot of wear and are in need of some servicing.

Very pleasant don't ask for a closet room unless you like close quarters.

I love this place. Spent a week here and it's so quiet and serene. The staff is wonderful and very accomodating. The decor might not be everyones cup of tea, but its clean and comfortable.

Was expecting a lot more for the price. Really brought us back in time. Our room was from the 1950s. Pink tiled bathroom with matching toilet and shower. Water stained ceiling. Not the worst hotel I've stayed in.

I love this place. So what if the tvs are a little out dated. The deco throughout is beautiful. Its cozy, and i plan to come back in the years to come. Staff is polite and very friendly. Recommended for cabin style hotel experience.

This Inn is NOT your typical hotel chain place, so if that's what you're looking formove on. However, if you want retro and rustic this is it. It is surrounded with peace and tranquility in the country along M119 at the beginning of the Tunnel of Trees. We stayed in a king suite and the room was HUGE even though you wouldn't think by the outside look. The lobby had that cabin rustic appeal. The staff was OUTSTANDING and very pleasant as was the owner who was preparing the continental breakfast of baked goods and coffee.
The room was not equipped with a hairdryer, which was ok with me as I always bring my own. Soheads upbring one. They did have a small refrigerator and a coffee pot. No microwave, but they had a little basket with hard candy. Perfectly sweet for those sweet place. I would SO go back since the room rates were far better than any chain. Thanks Birchwood Inn and staff for a wonderful stay!

We stayed at this place on a ski weekend with some friends. It was perfect for us! Rooms are older, but cozy and clean. View of Lake Michigan is nice. What we loved most is the common area with couches, tables & chairs, and a fireplace. After a day of skiing, it was nice hang out by the fire in a cozy setting that had a great up north vibe. Staff was friendly and breakfast wasn't fancy, but perfect for our needs. We will plan on coming back next time we ski!
