What a little gem of a hotel in Carmel! Walk to everywhere, continental breakfast included, and a breathtaking view from our private balcony! I thoroughly enjoyed our stay!!!
Will definitely return here again! Make sure to choose the King room with ocean view and fireplace. Full view of the sunset on the balcony. Room was modern and 5 star accommodations. Relaxed by the fireplace at the end of the evening after eating nearby. All shopping and restaurants close by. Highly recommend this room choice at the Carmel Bay View Inn. Was a very, very low price also for Carmel.
A very good surprise. I had low expectations based on the street view images, but when I got to my room I was pleased to find a reasonable nice, very clean room. Fast and easy check-in. Very good deal.
Nice room, but wheeled in bed for 17 year old son. Wasn't ideal to be honest. Nice big bathroom but toilet was blocked.not us! Maintenance soon came to fix though. It was a cold day after being in LA and we weren't all feeling great. Breakfast was simple, not much choice and not much space to sit. Carmel itself was lovely.
The location was awesome. It was close to everything and there was a small market right next door to buy essentials if needed. The room we got was the king suite. Pictures on line didn't show too much but it was a great room and very big. It had a fire place and a huge balcony that faces the ocean. It would have been an incredible view if we got the room on the fifth floor but we were on the fourth still a great view. The bed was the most comfortable bed I have yet to experience in a hotel and I'm a light sleeper but knocked out fast. It could use a new coat of paint but no complaints there. I did not experience service too much since we only stayed one night but check in and out was a breeze. Would definitely stay there again.
The location of the hotel was great! The person at the front desk was very friendly as well. The only issues I had were with the room. The bed did not have a blanket, and it was extremely uncomfortable. I woke up with my back hurting the next day. Also, there was no thermostat in the room so the heating could not be controlled during the night.
The location was good since it's within walking distance to the village and bay. We had a room with no view and close to the road. It was noisy during the day when people were parking and exiting their cars. The fireplace did not work and the front desk clerk didn't follow up to check to make sure it was working. For the price paid, it wasn't worth it even though Carmel is an expensive place for lodging and food. If you plan to stay here, avoid rooms #113 - #119.
Clean and convenient for overnight stay. Basic breakfast provide. An open air pool for guests. Extremely good location. Minutes of walk away from the Ocean Beach, the main street to the beach front and all the shops and restaurants.
Stayed here for one night on a last minute trip to Carmel. The room was super clean, spacious and decorated beautifully. Very California! Coming from the east coast I was a little concerned there was no air conditioning since I had driven down from San Jose where it was 90 degrees that day. Apparently no one in the area has a.c. But we just opened the doors and windows and it was quite cool and comfortable through the night when the temperature dropped down into the low 50's. By early morning it was even a little chilly. We stayed on the 5th floor which had amazing views and watched sunset go down over the ocean. Would definitely return again!
Overall a great stay. Clean rooms and comfy beds. A few oddities include lack of thermostat (gas fireplace and electric heater are in room), windows that open to passers-by, and a difficult to understand layout.
I have been coming to the Bay View for 30 plus years. It is by far one of the best in Carmel. Always clean and updated. Rooms are very comfortable and the staff is helpful and friendly. The breakfast is a nice amenity. Very quiet and peaceful.
Very nice room - recently updated. Great location for walking anywhere in town and to the beach. Great breakfast. The only issue we had was outside noise every morning at 6am. Garbage trucks and/or delivery trucks nearby.
On 9/4/17, we arrived at 1pm and the guy at the front desk said check in is at 3, come back then. We came back at 3, got to our room and were exhausted from the drive and the day. We had been in the room for about 15 minutes, my wife and I were trying to take a nap and all this sudden our room door opens forcefully and loudly. My wife screamed as she was half naked and the guy promptly left and shut the door. It was someone from the Best Western staff but not exactly sure who he was. It was extremely embarrassing and intrusive. We were shocked and very disappointed. The only reason why we didn't report it at the time was because we were so tired and we didn't want to half to deal with anything else. Continuing trying to take a nap it was extremely hot and unconformable as there was no AC and no Fans. I called in for a fan and they told me sorry we don't have any left and there's nothing we can do. So leaving the window open trying to get some air the staff was really loud outside, pulling the work truck in and out, making loud noises, someone was smoking and the smoke went inside our room. It was safe to say a nap wasn't happening. We left in disgust and came back later that evening and that's when the employee at the front desk salvaged our night with at least giving us his fan. I don't think we'll ever be staying at a Best Western ever gain.
Good location. Easy walk to restaurants and shops. Fireplaces in some rooms. Our room had some view over town and ocean too. Asked for ANY glasses for wine but the answer was no. We had to use paper cups in room for the cheap coffeee maker. Do not expect anything luxurious but they indeed offer good size room at good price for both weekday and weekend stays. I liked this old style building on the hill of Carmel with some romantic atmosphere. Perhaps could do much better as a boutique hotel.
Delightful Inn, beautiful grounds with wild flowers abounding! Excellent staff made us feel right at home. The room was perfect - not too small - just right! We had an excellent view of the Bay, exactly what we were hoping for with a balcony as well! The breakfast was really great, best "hotel" eggs we've had in a long time! Awesome place to stay and enjoy Carmel!
I stayed four nights at the Best Western Carmel Bay View Inn for the Big Sur Marathon in April 2017. The location was extraordinary, close to restaurants, shops, and a short walk away from the beach (don't miss the sunset). The room was cozy and very clean, with a very comfortable king bed, a decent, modern bathroom and a private balcony with an ocean view. Everything except a power outlet was in working order, and the gas fireplace was a nice added feature. Breakfast was good, the server (Chiyoe) is a sweet old lady from Japan who was ready to assist us with anything we needed. Kudos to the property manager (Joanna) for keeping this place in such good shape; even though the exterior has the look of a late 1950s building, it is well kept and maintained. I have nothing but good things to say about this property and the staff. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Carmel.
Charming hotel with tons of character. We had a lovely room that was spacious, with a gas fireplace and a large bathroom. Not what you typically associate with the Best Western chain. Conveniently located to shops and restaurants which made the experience even better. Looking forward to returning some day soon.
I was most impressed by the management of this outstanding hotel.
The entire staff was excellent. The Breakfast was of high quality.
The Rooms, furnishings, and the ambiance was truly outstanding.
I would always stay in this hotel. this is my second stay and I intend to return many times. I recommend this hotel whole-heartedly and without any reservations.
