Hiking at Starved Rock? Great location, hearty breakfast, close to hiking, restaurants and shopping. Friendly, helpful staff. Clean rooms. Swimming and whirlpool after a long day of hiking. Close to Matthiessen State park as well (which is worth the hiking).

Great hotel. Stayed for the night. Good night's sleep. The breakfast was amazing! Multiple choices including scrambled eggs, sausage links, sausage patties, waffles, donuts and fruit.

We love this place.. rooms are clean. Continental breakfast is fresh. And the coffee ain't watered down. We always get a room here when we goto starved rock state park. It's usually quieter then the other hotels including starved rock hotel

Excellent place to stay. Friendly helpful staff. Clean facility and rooms. Comfortable beds and nice breakfast. Pet friendly with lots of space to walk your pet. Large field just to south of property. Nice place form pizza is Sam's, which is close by. Highly recommend the experience. Sam is one of a kind.

Great location and very affordable. Would have given it 5 stars but hot tub was cold, however they fixed it the next morning. Breakfast was great! Comfy beds. I’ll be coming back!

We had a group of 14. Check in was at 3 but we arrived early for a Vine Festival going on and we were able to get into all four rooms before heading out the the festival. Front desk was very friendly and the free breakfast was good. Rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. Even the cleaning crew that next morning were very friendly, making sure to tell you good morning and have a nice day.

The location was perfect for us since we where visiting the state parks with our 2 year old son. They have gas station, restaurant and fast food within walking distance from the hotel. We also enjoyed the pool and hot tub. The room was very nice, clean and comfy. The staff was very friendly and courteous. The breakfast was decent. Offering biscuits and gravy, sausage and scrambled eggs for warm food. And the in general bread, pastries, bagels, cereal, etc overall very satisfied with our stay.

I usually stay at best westerns/ plus hotels, and this one is a bit below the standard. It has a good pool and hot tub though shallow, and small. It is the smallest best western I've dtayed at, but not very busy. One of the pulleys on the exercise equipment was broken, but they still have a treadmill, elliptical and stationary bike. I got the feeling the lower standards are a result of the small town location. The rates where very reasonable though for a 2 bed room. I only paid $65. I would say it was good value, very clean, with average customer service. Hope that helps.

I am VERY disappointed with this hotel. I was optimistic at first, since it would be so cheap and the pictures looked alright. But when I was checking into the hotel I asked the front desk for a non-smoking room.

I was given TWO SMOKING rooms before finally he gave me a non-smoking room.

I tried to stay positive and understanding even after that experience, since I was with my 6 year old I didn't want to cause unneeded stress during our vacation and I'm also a pretty laid back person.

But then I asked the front desk if i could change the payment method for our room to a different card and he said, "yes, but you have to do it tomorrow before 11 because it won't even be charged till then".

So i thought, okay I guess I can wait. I woke up the next morning early because my daughter and I were going hiking and went at 9 to the front desk telling them i was told thay i could change my method of payment before 11.

But this person told me that the hotel had already charged my credit card the night before. So I was definitely given misinformation the night before.

At this point I was extremely frustrated, but he assured me that i would be refunded in the next few days.

Being an overly nice and pushover person who avoids conflict, I believed him and just at that point wanted to leave the hotel.

It has been a week and I have not been refunded.

I was CHARGED TWICE on 2 separate cards for the room.

Also, the shower in our room had a pubic hair on the wall that was dedinitely there before i even got in the shower.

I'm glad my daughter had a good time, I definitely didn't want to ruin her time over a hotel management's complete disregard for customer service and teaching their employees consistent information.

    But really Best Western?

I am really disappointed and I wish it would have been a better experience because many other best westerns I've been to have been wonderful for being a budget hotel. YOURS ON THE OTHER HAND was horrible.

Please make sure you try harder not to disappoint another customer like you did me. Because they probably won't be as nice as I was when I was there.

You guys have a great location in proximity to starved rock, change your approach of management or lose customer's.

I am having my credit card company dispute your double charge if you will not keep your commitment of refunding me.

I wouldn't recommend the Best Western to anyone. It was dirty, unkept, rooms not dusted, bathroom smelled like a locker room, shower head didn't work right, sheets were filthy with others DNA, hair etc on them. Called desk and were told we could change the sheets ourselves, headboard had hand prints, arm prints on it. Was offered the opportunity to clean it our self as there was no one there to do it. Management never called back to listen to our complaints, dining area was gross and dirty. Only thing we didn't experience was a roach running around but I'm sure they were there. Staff was untrained and completely unable to do anything as it related to helping. Place is a dump

Great place to stay if you are working in the area!! The rooms are spacious, and clean. Staff is very accommodating, and always eager to help out in anyway they can. If you are a company needing a really great place for your workers to stay, make sure to check into their business members. It is outstanding! My mechanics are on the road almost 300 days a year, and so far this has been the most reasonable, and the nicest place for them to stay!! Very, very pleased!!

The staff was extremely nice and accommodating. The room was clean and we didn't hear any noise from the neighbors. Breakfast was ok, it's about what you'd expect, they have the usual biscuits, bread, muffins, fruit, a meat that varies (usually sausage), cereal, and yogurt. Overall it's a good hotel to stay at. I would recommend it to my friends should they ever go to Oglesby.

A little dated but totally clean and friendly staff. Clean bathroom, comfortable bed. No complaints. Great location when you're the surrounding state parks. All three of them are within 15 minutes driving distance. Definitely a good choice for an overnight stay hiking trip.
