Clean hotel, great location. Tons of places to eat. Everything is walking distance. The breakfast was average. The eggs tasted like canned eggs but the waffles were bomb.

Great hotel with spacious apartment style rooms available. Full size refrigerator and small cooking area was a great addition. High ceilings gave the rooms a feeling of spaciousness. Will definitely go back while visiting SDSU.

Super friendly staff. Reception and cleaning staff are amazing! A bit hard to see while driving (unless using Google Maps, etc.). Nice enough rooms.

TIP: safes in main office. Need to sign form. Key for safe

NOTE: LOTS of places to eat within walking distance. Unless you have a dog that's scared of traffic :-)

We had a great stay at this hotel. It was clean and the property was well kept. Pool was sparkling clean too. Great value! We will definitely go back!

This was our 5th visit to the lamplighter in San Diego, from our first visit to this last one we have been very impressed with the room , the grounds, and the staff. They keep up the property so nice with all the plants and flowers a lot goes into them doing that , and that was what first attracted to the property because it looked like they really cared. we will go again next year and know willhave a great time

Staff was great and really friendly. The room however smelled funny. The couches looked dirty and the carpet made mine and my family's feet turn black. We will not stay at this location again.

I stayed seven days at the BW Lamplighter Inn while visiting San Diego. It was very convenient and located close to all of our events. The staff were very helpful and the Inn was very clean as were the grounds. It was a most enjoyable stay.

Very clean and tidy, welcoming staff and good breakfast. Lots of restaurants and shops in the area. You get a lot for your money on this hotel. Not far from beaches and SD downtown with a car. We as a family found it to be perfect for our needs.

This Best Western used to be a wonderful, well-maintained property where the staff took pride in what they were doing. It used to be a place to relax, feel safe, and enjoy your time away from home. A home away from home. That is NO LONGER the case. It is a lower end Best Western where NOW, cockroaches roam freely (uuuugh!) and you better not go barefooted on your own carpeted floor. The next morning, you will see blackened soles of your feet as you wash away the gunk. They must have new ownersthe lack of respect and caring is obvious. Try, if you can, to find another place to stay while in San Diego.

Best Western Lamplighter is a very good value. The rooms are up to date, clean, and the beds are very comfortable. The front office personnel are courteous, professional, and knowledgeable. It's also a plus that it is close to SDSU. The breakfast is okay overall with a variety of items available. Parking in the hotel lot can be tough if the hotel is filled to capacity and you come in late. And from a past stay, not all the rooms have both a microwave and refrigerator which was an issue. Those are minor issues and will definitely stay there whenever I am in the San Diego area.

Really enjoy this hotel. Desk staff is patient with my mature mind, lol. Evelyn helped us check in and figure out my rewards program, we were able to use the rewards points to pay for the room last night. Rooms are really clean and the linens are of high quality.

I stay here whenever I am in San Diego. It is a good value hotel that is dog friendly. Close to restaurants and services. Staff is always very helpful. It is not a "fancy" place, but it is very clean, free wifi, free parking, free continental breakfastpride in ownership.

Very nice, clean rooms. The swimming pool was beautiful and clean. This is a very nice facility. The breakfast room is very small--not enough tables. It was difficult to get a seat.

This little hotel does not look like much from the outside but exceeds expectations inside. It is set up more like a motel with a small, plain reception/check in area. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. The location is very convenient and close to major freeways. Considering San Diego location, it was very reasonable and excellent value. The complimentary breakfast was OK but we did not expect more for the price. Highly recommended for anyone looking for clean, comfortable lodging without a lot of frills.
