This turn of the century inn, built in 1905, has beautiful charm and ambiance. The rooms are quaint, and may be considered small by some, but you have to remember this place is from a different era. No TVs, and slow internet but that's because it's nestled 3500 feet up, in the Great Smoky Mountains. A wonderful restaurant, the food was delicious, the staff was extremely friendly, and a wonderful menu.
The place was clean, and although I live close by this is a new getaway for my wife and I.
I can't recommend this place enough. Just set your expectations accordingly for what you are going to! :)response / report this review -

Great historic hotel with good restaurant. Really authentic (this means that parts of hotel and some pieces of furniture are pretty old - but they are preserved well, and it's actually adding to the overall charm and feel). Excellent place to relax after a day in Smoky Mountains or Blue Ridge Parkway - has several fireplaces in the lobby!

Great place if you are looking for a rustic get away from it all sort of place. Quirky in all the right ways. Restaurant serves nice food at a reasonable cost. Staff friendly. Rooms nice and clean. The one negative was that I thought the breakfast was a little unimaginative. We will definitely go back.

We had 6pm reservations. For years We have wanted to stay here. Tonight we are going to dine here. After being sat and handed our menu’s we were told, be right back. Seconds later we were asked if we were ready to order? Well no, we would like drinks. Here’s where the night of service kills the whole night. The server informed us there is 6:30 reservations and we need to hurry up.
The food was very good. The service was bad. So bad that why would we want to stay here? Why would we go back?response / report this review -

Our room was not very clean. Prices are way too high. No AC! Meals at best were only mediocre. Staying on top of a mountain was nice, but I'll do that next time in a Holiday Inn. One clerk at front desk was extremely rude. We learned our lesson. This place is definitely not worth the high prices.

Loved this place! Quaint. Different. Southernly hospitable! Yes, it's old. It's awesome! We got a room with 2 double beds and a bathroom with a shower.
The room radiators put out a lot of heat during the winter nights. Open the window above the interior doors to vent.
The restaurant served an impeccable dinner for 2 for roughly $100 WITH drinks. Pistachio encrusted trout is a MUST.
The FREE breakfast was either scrambled eggs or French Toast or BOTH. True southern grits, bacon and some fruit included song with cereals, juices, and coffee.
The front desk offers local beers and wine while staffed. The library has full time teas and coffee. Plenty of guests meander on the wrap-around porch or in the "lobby" area. Social and fun!

I read others writing "the room was hard to deal with". I feel exactly the opposite. Despite the fact that yes the place is historic and thus old, the room was super clean, the bed was fresh and with great bedding for a cool mountain night. I felt taken back in to a time in which I hadn't even been around. The floors squeaked just a little bit but other parties in other rooms were not to hear. In fact, the hotel was super quiet. I felt as cozy and welcome as possible and wondered by myself why I don't stay at these type of places more often when on business trips. I slept just like at home which I usually don't when (on about 40 other nights a year) in Hampton Ins or Sheraton's. On top, the included breakfast was great. I will stay here again any time.

Very beautiful property. Gorgeous views of the mountains and friendly staff. It's like going back in time staying here. Complimentary breakfast in their gorgeous dining room and private showers and claw foot tubs make this place truly a dream.

Old stately B&B quiet, fresh air, reminds me of going to stay at families house when I was young. Great weekend getaway and probably for a week. Lots to do nearby.

This is a wonderful place to stay. The common area reminds me of an old resort like the one in Dirty Dancing. The Inn is beautiful and full of unique mountain handcrafted furniture.

A wonderful retreat, away from the busy bustle. Serene setting with wonderful staff and Innkeepers. You can truly unwind and relax. Food was excellent, beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean and well appointed. Quick drives to surrounding towns, the Blue Ridge Parkway and Asheville. Will visit again and again.

Unique, quaint, interesting. Good food, attentive service. Off the beaten path. Historic and old so it is quite noisy. You can hear every footstep in the hall and on your ceiling. If you sleep lightly this is probably not the place for you.

Great getaway! Complementary breakfasts are very pleasant and quality. Rooms are nice and simple. Bathrooms could use some renovation. Deep cleaning the shower tile, re-caulking, etc. staff is great. Don't leave without trying the in-house restaurant! It's a phenomenal experience. Great hikes within 20 minutes; everything from half a mile long to 10mile loopssome open year round. Take advantage of the library and board games. This is the place you'll find that you actually do enjoy a good quiet game of checkers by the fire.
