Great location with easy access to shops and restaurants! The mid century mondern style is simple, yet elegant and the staff is helpful and friendly.

Loved their Happy Hour time! The ambience and decor was really chilled, relaxing and cool. I also loved their servers! Helpful and sweet, our drinks were constantly refilled. The food was decent. Our favorite was the Roasted Sweet Potato dish, so good! The Tuscan Tomato Soup and Grilled Cheese and Mezze dishes were okay. Would definitely come back here again! The Gin Gimlet, Daiquiri and Shirley Temple was delightful!

Great staff. Professional, friendly, welcoming environment. Eager to please. More of a 60's vintage hotel design. Room 208 or 308 in the main bldg are my favorites. Restaurant is fine for convenience. Happy hour is nice enough to stay in, good strong cocktails. The overall convenience factor is the reason this hotel works when in Beverly Hills.

We made a reservation with Marriott points (because we've earned them) and were put in their second class building across their main hotel. Decent size room but with sub par amenities. Air conditioner never provided cold air but recirculated cool/muggy air; we had no flat sheet on the bed, only a thick comforter, needless to say we had an uncomfortable sleep; bathroom had no exhaust fan and all the moist air stayed in the already humid bedroom. Couldn't open the windows either because we were on the ground floor. Also, no sheer curtains under the blackout curtains so we were in the dark. Only good thing about their second class building, the hot water was really hot.

The hotel is very clean, conveniently located and the staff is generally great. I wasn't in the main building, and it felt a little like a retro apt. building, but the room was clean and comfortable (not my favorite pillows though) and spacious. I'd stay in the main building next time. Also on my last day, the cleaning staff was knocking on my door at 8:30am which seemed early on a checkout day.

We stayed at the building adjacent to the main hotel. The room was big and clean. Nice free wifi and all. Convenient location, close to a grocery and several bus stations.

Central location, retro California vibe. We were in the main building -- room was nice. We did park on Olympic overnight, with no issues, just needed to pay the meter before 9AM. I'd stay here again but I'd say it is more of a 3.5 star hotel.

A hidden gem with history.
It was once the Beverly Carlton and Marilyn Monroe lived here for three years.
It is cozy and the staff is great.
What a wonderful place.

Nice hotel but beware of all the expensive extras like the resort fee ( never heard of a hotel adding an extra cost per room at the end of the trip! For what?!)Plus there is no on street parking so valet parking at $40 a night is compulsory which meant we kept having to wait to get our car.
Location is very good.
Lots of small annoying things that weren't quite right, such as very noisy air conditioning and one that kept leaking. Half of the window locks were broken so didn't open. No air vent from the bathroom to outside and as we were on the ground floor we couldn't leave the window open.Helpful staff. Studio rooms that say they sleep 4, but the sofa bed was too small for my 9 and 10 year old to sleep together. They did give us a folding bed.

The hotel itself is darling and very quaint. The room was nice, very comfortable, not large but not too tiny. The bathroom wasadequate, though small. But no towel racks!! Super friendly, helpful staff, very welcoming and accommodating.

Cool atmosphere. Friendly staff. Clean rooms. Unfortunately had to wait over an hour for my room to be ready when reservation was made a month earlier. Elevator also needs work. Worried I'd get stick every time I took it. Safety inspection permit was very much expired. Otherwise a pleasant experience.

We enjoyed the Avalon. The hotel is very nice. We thought it was a bit strange they had 3 different buildings but it turned out nicely.
They let us move to a room with 2 beds which was very much appreciated.
We really liked the happy hour and the pool in general. The breakfast was great. Also the service was really good.
Rooms are nice but we're a bit on the warm side.
Free coffee refills was a great feature.
All in all, we would stay there again and overall had a great stay.
