  Arooji's Wine room is the closest thing to the old neighborhood quaint restaurant/bar in the Ballantyne area. I often say its one of Charlotte's best kept secrets. Located in the Promenade shopping center, when you walk into the place it feel like you walked into a wine cellar at a winery. Its very cozy. They also have an awesome private room that is great for a small party or wine tasting. The food is always fresh with good size portions too. The lunch plates are very well priced considering the freshness of the food and the selection. They have a fantastic selection of really great wines too Like Jordan Silver Oak cabs. Cakebread cellars chardonnay is offered as well. The service is great as well. The owner takes a personal interest in making sure he meets the needs of the customers. Its not just a place for a Friday or Saturday night out. Go for lunch too or dinner during the week. Its a small lace but you can usually get a table quickly. They have outdoor seating as well to enjoy the great weather.

  Terrible customer service. We waited 20 minutes for a server to come and take our order, after that the server disappeared and never apologized for the delay in our order, we have been waiting for 45 minutes for the food. It seems like they are extremely busy, they need to hire more people. Totally unacceptable. I really had big expectations of this place, it is very cute, unfortunately they are not well prepared and the service is horrible. We just walked away, the food never came to our table. The manager was walking around looking at us and never stop to address any concerns. Unbelievable, worst experience by far with a restaurant.

  The food wasn't terrible but for $25 the chicken was quite tough and chewy-like the kind that you order in bulk from Costco. Or maybe it was previously frozen. The waitress was quite annoyed we were in her way a few times-just say excuse me! This was because some of us stood to talk to others in another section. They didn't have enough seats for the party or put any tables together when clearly there could have been enough room for us all to sit together. No one asked if I wanted a drink or dessert and no one checked on how the meal was or brought any bread. We came with a large party, but we are all adults and all would have tipped. I felt it was a bit over the top to charge a 20% gratuity fee. It was clear they just didn't really want us there or need to make any more $ off of us since they were getting $ for their over priced food and large gratuity. I was shocked I wasn't even allowed to order a dessert or some drinks throughout the meal! I'm not saying don't come here but just don't expect over the top service for those prices.

  Wine selection was great and service was prompt. However food was way over priced and just average. Chicken parm was chewy and tasted like it was chicken cutlet and under cooked instead of breast meat. Service offered to rebook, however was still an unusual texture. Would definitely go back for wine and appetizer, just not a main meal.

  Not that great. Miserable server who went out of his way to ignore us most of the night. Probably because I asked if the Caprese salad was buffalo mozzarella (it isn't and if it's not, it shouldn't be called a Caprese salad). The main course was just "ok" and luke warm. The bread rolls were cold and those little round French things you get in bulk in the freezer section of any grocery store. No butter, no pesto, no anything to go with the rolls. Seems I knew more about Italian food and wine and beer than they did. The food was so filling I had to make a sandwich when I got home. I don't recommend this place.
  Ps If you have a Groupon coupon for this place, expect an even worse attitude. Saw that from another table.

  4 of us went for lunch. All went well until food arrived. 1 Ordered a ravioli dish. Waitress brought a penne dish. Manager came out to say they were out of ravioli. SERIOUSLY????. Had him take it back and he let us order another dish. In the mean time 3 of us had our meal and 1 had to sit there waiting. In case you were wondering, No, the manager did not adjust the bill for the lousy service. If the owners want this restaurant to still be open in 6 months, they better make some quick changes.

  Special occasion meal ruined by angry manager. Asked to have dish baked a little longer as it was raw. Manager came and grabbed both dishes in a fit of temper. No one informed us what was going on. We asked waiter if the food was being cooked a little longer as it had raw cheese on top and obviously was not cooked through. He said no so we had to leave. Very unpleasant. very disappointed have never been treated like that! Won't go back!

  Walk in and it's just not right. There's no hostess stand, and almost all the tables were reserved for reservations, so we had no idea whether the place was open or not. Get seated in a corner booth, but the excessive interior decorations put us out of sight, and clearly out of mind for the wait staff. Spent longer waiting on the check than we did eating. And the food was just okay, I've had better at the major chains, for significantly lower cost. Would not recommend.
