You can enjoy concerts either inside or outside. I came to watch Trivium perform on December 5th and the place was packed. They have a decent selection of alcohol. The only energy drink offered is red bull. They offer bottled water as well. The VIP section is very tiny. The stage is kind of small, but overall ok venue.

Staff is rude and pushy. Security is overly aggressive and violent with no provocation, saw multiple kids dragged out by their necks and even tackled to the concrete floor. What justifies this? A gross and dangerous venue.

I have been to this place several times for rock and metal shows and I've never had a bad spot! The layout is pretty simple mercy to the right as you walk in bar to the left and stage directly in the back. *For some of the heavier shows I do recommend earplugs for those with sensitive hearing.

this place pleasantly surprised me! even though event parking was $10, it was worth it since it was so close to the venue. staff was super nice and the food trucks nearby are great!

I love bartending here!! I love the owners all the staff I work with and it's the best place for any concert!! We're the best staff ever!! Great environment not 1 complaint!! Xoxoxo IT'S A MUST TO CHECK US OUT, SO HURRY AND WHO DOESN'T LOVE FAST AN GREAT SERVICE

I am leaving a review for the August burns red/ In hearts wake. The place was not that big it is in better shape then the rabbit. During two band performance and noting they also got pissed and told them they're 'sound techs sucked" waited for them to fix it since it was cutting off during the performance and the lighting as well. One band in particular was upset and actually said he wouldn't play there again after the frustration. People were also smoking marijuana but no one searched for them. In hearts wake and August burns red delivered and made the money spent worth it.

Audio quality on the smaller inside shows is kinda bad. It's okay but if a band played there I'd have to think about going. Shout out to the crew guy that gave me pizza tho!

what kind of place doesnt start selling water until over an hour after letting people in the doors? staff walking around eating and drinking while several people and myself stand around the bar looking stupid, waiting to buy a bottle of water. not knowing when they will open, and no one was even acknowledged, just ignored. and when my little brother and i finally buy soda and water, after waiting for the bartender to finish his conversation with another staff about the party he went to last night, our soda is contaminated with unknown black flakes. this place feels inhumane and i have never had such a miserable experience anywhere in my life. the show is not on schedule and seems like time stood still. such a long boring process and i will never even consider coming back here again. i hope someone whose in charge reads this and does something to make it better for others. i feel disgusting after being here.

3*s because it needs some upgrades especially the bathroom. Love being in a close up environment with the bands. Great choice of rock bands to perform concerts.

A decent place to see a show. The acoustics could be a bit better. Having said that, they get a pretty good assortment of shows. This place could be so much more - that's why it's only getting 3 stars.

This venue is probably the worst I've been to in San Antonio, for its fairly big size. The sound quality is fine for lighter bands, but if you're a metal band steer clear. It's almost impossible to distinguish any of the instruments or even hear the vocals that well when heavy bands perform here. I can only assume cheap audio equipment is to blame.
In addition to that glaring flaw, I can't stand the pillars that jut out in the middle of the venue, blocking the stage for a huge portion of the crowd. Pillars are fine in venues like Trees in Dallas where they're part of the decor and don't get in the way nearly as much, but here they're inexcusable.
On top of everything else, finding parking for the venue can be way too expensive if you use the lots across the street and to the sides of the building, and every lot available is of the makeshift gravel variety, so there are no designated spots aside from the ones the lot workers tell you to fill, depending on demand for the lot. I'll take any other venue's parking meter lots or, even better, Paper Tiger's free parking, any day.
Most importantly, the place just isn't any fun. The interior is very drab and the way everything is set up structurally just doesn't work well (e.g. the bar line constantly cutting into the audience because where else can the patrons go?).
Overall, I really wouldn't recommend Alamo City Music Hall. It's over expensive and not worth the price of admission once you're there. Only see a band here if A. You want to try the place out, or B. If you really love the who's playing and aren't willing to drive out of SA to see them elsewhere.response / report this review
