Amazing restaurant!!!!!!! I spent my evening here for the Christmas River Parade and the staff was amazing! The buffet was fantastic and constantly being replenished. The manager, James, touched our table and gave it that personal feel like I had been there before and made the experience that more wonderful. He recommended some amazing drinks only offered at the Iron Cactus and they were fantastic! Planning to be a regular there now! I definantly recommend making that a stop for amazing Mexican cuisine!

The food was good, but it wasn't knock you on your behind good - which I have come to expect from anything south of Dallas! The fajitas were enjoyable, but I've had ones I've gotten more excited over. The drinks were quite good though. Service was good. The bartender (we were with a dinner party that required us to get our own drinks) seemed overwhelmed - not her fault, most likely ours as a large group, but it did take a while. They handled it okay, though we had to jostle for any attention. But they made up for it with quality of drinks and margaritas.

What a wonderful experience at Iron Cactus on the Riverwalk! Food excellent- shrimp and chicken fajitas, the most amazing cocktail- the elder margarita, cozy atmosphere, but the BEST part was the service from being greeted as soon as I walked up and especially Mandy Sue who took wonderful care of me, had great suggestions on food, drink and even things to do in San Antonio. Her energy is welcoming, calm, cheerful, and she’s so knowledgeable! She’s got the exact right spirit for customer service and her goal is happy customers, which makes her happy, as well. This will be a favorite place now when I visit this lovely city! Thank you so much for such a nice evening!

We had a great experience here. The food is amazing and Jesse, our server, was one of the best servers I’ve ever had anywhere. His attention to detail and customer care is outstanding. Thank you, Jesse!

Poor poor customer service.. I understand they had an event going on and had to set up. So they offered for us to sit at the bar and we could stay as long as we wanted. So we did. We sat down and another couple sat down right behind us. Well after waiting and waiting I asked for a menu, low n behold the couple that sat down after us had drinks, water and menus to order. I up and left and will never return because of being ignored. Sad.

A group of us were traveling on business. We were in town for a week, hands down this was the best experience we had while there. Every member of our group commented how great out waitress was. If you ever have the pleasure of having Mandy as your waitress, you will walk away a very delighted customer. She explained the menu, gave us a couple suggestion when we were torn between options and never missed a beat with our drinks. The food was amazing and it was a great way to end our trip in San Antonio. Thank you Mandy!

Excellent food and wait staff. I recommend making reservations. They have a kids menu and wonderful margaritas. Outside seating the birds are always trying to eat your food.

I rarely leave a bad review, but several things really irked me about this restaurant.

First of all, we went in with two kids. Though riverfront spots were available, they literally put as as far back as possible, where no one else was seated. We asked to sit by the water, and they accommodated, but I can't imagine why they'd choose to stick us far off in a corner like that.

Next, we ordered mimosas, but received glasses almost entirely full of orange juice. We asked if we could instead have just a splash of OJ, you know, a mimosa. The waiter returned with more orange juice. So we ordered straight champagne. Despite him claiming the delay was due to them needing to open a new bottle, the utter lack of bubbles (literally, there were maybe two in mine and only a few more in my wife's) should have been a visual clue to accompany the complete stale taste of this clearly long ago opened bottle.

The food was just okay. And the chef came around to ask us how things were, unfortunately he did so before we'd received even our first drink. Our waiter was polite as well.

Just a real disappointment and reminder of why it's better to check reviews beforehand rather than wing it. A place like this will stay open simply because it's on the river walk, but maybe this will persuade someone else to take their (many) dollars elsewhere.

Very good food with healthy portions. The tequila list and margarita menu are extraordinary! Delicious guacamole. Service was good, though a little slow. A bit pricey for Tex-Mex.

9.50 for 1/2 of a normal size Margarita. Service is the worst I have EVER experienced. Good location Is all it has going for it. Extremely rude hostess. I wouldn't go there again even if it was free. Don't ruin your evening. Go to Rio Rio you'll have a great
Time at 1/2 the price and they actually care about you there. Iron Castus is a good name because it matches there attitude.

From a local perspective. We expected better, soup was cold and main plate. We never saw our waiter. We don't like to complain at all. My husband still ate his main dish, even though it was cold. We just asked to let the cook know food was coming out cold. Manager did come out and cover our main dish. We will only come back for happy hour 3-6. Will not bring friends and family here.
