This is the best place to stay in the UP! Great hospitable owners! Quiet comfortable room on beautiful Lake Gogebic!

Rented a boat for fishing for half a day. AJs gave us friendly service and good advice about what people were catching in different parts of the lake. Boat was reliable, clean, and worked perfectly. We had a great day!

I stayed at the Walleye Lodge this past winter while in the area snowmobiling. While my stay was just one night, the staff and lodge exceeded my expectations in every way. First off, I'll admit that I'm kind of a snob on where I'm willing to stay. Upon checking the lady who met us at the office told us they just got new beds. This was a huge hit for me as most places in the Northwoods seem to never update the beds. My friends and I had two rooms, Superior and Gogebic, that were clean, nice decorated and well equipped.

The staff met us after-hours to check in and also gave us great recommendations on where to go for breakfast and riding. A big thank you to the staff/owners for providing a great place to stay on the lake. You'll be the first place we check for rooms when back riding in the area.

We love to fish on Lake Gogebic, so we stay at the Walleye Lodge every chance we get. The owners are very accommodating and make sure we have everything we need. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and Marybeth and Jim make you feel right at home. My most favorite place on Lake Gogebic. Can't wait to go back.

I made a reservation at the lodge for a pontoon boat. I discussed the arrangements with Jim that I would be renting a pontoon and that it had lights and I would be keeping it for one week at the house on the lake and bringing it back if there was inclement weather. He agreed and booked the boat. I arrived at the lake house and went to pick up the boat and was met by Mary Beth and told that she didn’t believe me that Jim would have said that. I assured her and she said she should call Jim for clarification. I thought that would be fine as I would have rented a boat from the person 3 doors down from the house if I wanted one without lights as he lets me keep the boat over night also unless a storm comes in. She then got very rude and suggested that I save my money and not rent their boats. I told her I was happy to spend the money to make my wife happy with evening and moonlight boating. She said that she felt I could save the money and go get another boat. I told her that even though I could tell her husband made her uncomfortable with his agreement that wasn’t my problem and she informed me she wasn’t feeling uncomfortable but just wasn’t going to rent me a boat as agreed on. There are a lot of better, reliable and more reputable companies that rent nice boats on the lake for a much cheeper price. They are one of the highest priced rental companies and according to every single townie I told this situation about during my 10 day stay, they are the most unrepeatable business on the lake. Take your business down the road. And based on the other reviews that came in I can tell they are now attempting to manipulate their image as well. These people just don't get it and you are better off taking your business elsewhere. I assume based on local chatter that the only good reviews they are getting are ones they are asking for from friends with Gmail accounts.

I've been coming up to the U.P. For over 20 years. I had never stayed on Gogebic and saw that it would be a great location. Upon reading the great reviews, I got in touch with Mary Beth to inquire about making a reservation for my family of four plus my mom. I knew within 30 seconds of talking to Mary Beth this was the place to stay. From the moment we arrived (which was late at night and Jim was still super accommodating and got us all checked in) to the moment we left it felt more like staying with family than anything. We stayed in the mallard which comfortably slept all of us and the kitchen was great because there aren't tons of food options in the immediate area, so we brought food and ate breakfast and dinner there every day. They even put games and puzzles in our room because they knew we had kids in our group. If you are looking to hunt, fish, or just explore the incredible beauty of the western upper peninsula, this is a great place to stay. Mary Beth and Jim are local pros and will make sure you get everything you want and then some out of your stay. It's rustic, charming, and cozy and we can't wait to come back. Thank you for everything Jim and Mary Beth!
