We dined in for dinner at waterside restaurant this evening. Meals were all delicious but however the service was severely below average. Our waitress could barely speak English did not introduce herself nor tell us any specials or show any interest in us at all throughout the night and also seen finishing work halfway through our stay. Following ordering some drinks which most of the evening we were having to go up to the bar to do as our table barely got attended to, the waitress then brought the drinks over tipping them over and getting it all over the back of one of us which she was hardly apologetic for nor did we get any discount off our evening or anything. The drinks took at least 15 mins to get delivered to us each time. One round of drinks had warm beer included not even the slightest bit chilled. Like I said the food was delicious so big ups to the chef but this place is desperately needing some love and attention with it being in a prime location on the water front of Taupo it seemed quite gloomy and sad. we thought with the right welcoming upbeat staff who took an interest in being your waiter for the evening and some inticing music this could be a prime destination but it sadly wasn't in this case. hope the next people have a better experience and better wait staff.

To be honest we were disappointed with the food we ordered. We ordered the seafood salad which consisted mainly of noddles, it said king prawn however it arrived with two small prawns. We also ordered the chicken breast which was tasteless and to top it off our daughter ordered a beef burger and fries from the kids menu which was a thin Patty, some melted cheese and tomato saucewe will not recommend or return ☹

Food is alright, slow and bad customer service. Didn’t even bother to refill the water jugs or ask about the food quality or likings.

Went for lunch and had great fast service. The fish and chips was really good and the pork open sandwich was divine. Also has a lovely view over the lake and is next to a free car park.

Excellent food and fantastic wait staff food is fine dinning and being right on the waterside great views to look at why having your meal only thing I can fault if the restaurant looks alittle tired and does not match the food freshly made in house drinks or the view a make over would just tie it all together but would still come back here any time well done

Family night out with 3 small Kids. Food was excellent. Kids combos were great value and quality; staff very friendly and good with the kids. Adult sized burgers really fill you up and you have to try the ice cream. All round good experience and thanks to staff on duty for all their hard work.

Excellent food, excellent ambience. A slight mix up with our order but we think that we may have confused the waitress because of our questioning. We bought friends from out of town. We have always had a great meal and experience. Thank you again.

When we came in we were greeted straight away, we were given a nice seat next to the fire and were given our drinks straight away. It took a while for the waiters to come and take our order. We had the calamari for our entree and it was beautifully cooked and tasty. The garlic bread was average. Our mains took a while to come out but when they did come they were very lovely. The steak was succulent, the burger was lovely and the "fush and chups" were filling! Took a while to clear the table when we were finished but our dessert order was taken quickly and we got this in a short amount of time. Overall was a more positive experience that we had in Taupo compared to other places in this city. Thank you.

Food was very nice and well present.
Service was very slack. 10 minutes to clear plates and to bring dessert menus. Another 10 minutes waiting for someone to take dessert order. Got tired of waiting so went to Lone Star for dessert.response / report this review -

We stopped by for dinner after some dodgy service from a place down the road and we were not disappointed!
We ordered the Waterside Platter and the Venison Meatballs as well as the suggested beers from the waitress, Kiriana. The food was beautiful and fresh but the service was really why we decided to stay.
Kiriana was incredibly helpful and attentive. She was more than happy to suggest local beers for us to try as well as answering some of my other random questions and, overall, just had great banter and was a pleasure to be served by her.
The location is incredible - as the name suggests right on the waterside so beautiful anytime of day.response / report this review -

Stopped by for lunch on our way from Auckland to Levin and had the steak & chips meal (for hubby) and fish & chips (for me) plus deserts! Was delicious! Beautiful view of the lake as well.

On the lake snacks. Great crustinni with the late. Bread with sauces was very good. Tasty sauces and properly toasted bread. The kitchen pays attention to the small stuff.
