Only for backpackers but amazing place and location. Very clean. Very friendly and helpful staff. It got really cold one night and the owners came by to check if everyone was warm enough. Laundry machines worked great. It's NZ$4 each to wash and dry.

Pretty good for a hostel! We had a double room and everthing was clean and seemed newly renovsted with lovely lake views

Great place with plenty of space. Very clean and staff is very friendly. Would definitely use it again. Only downside is no lockers.

The location is great, right across from the lake as the name suggests. Reception is wonderful, all workers seem to be very nice. The rooms are nice, the bathroom that was in our dorm room didn't have any ventilation and provided some very sticky showers, though. The WiFi was my biggest complaint, it constantly cuts out in our lodge. I was told to go to the main building for better WiFi closer to the router, but even there I had a lot of issues. The main kitchen seems well stocked but the individual side kitchen in the Lakeview lodge seemed prepared for lighter prep meals. Lots of burners and sinks though!

Welcome reception. Ample lakeside views from across the road. Clean, refurbished rooms. Tidy, clean, well-organised kitchen. A five minutes to the heart of Te Anau. Quiet. Relaxing.

Cheaper than most hostel but with the same facilities, I reckon most of the rooms have a private bathroom each and most of it don't have bunk beds. Heaps of parking space, really hot showers, unlimited wifi, check out 10 but can stay until 12. Big kitchen with huge fridge, plenty of stoves and a fire place in the lounge. I totally recommend it!

Wasn't really sure about this place at first because the girls on the phone were kinda rude BUT I had an amazing time once I got there and the girls at the front were actually really nice. The showers are not the best (but honestly most hostels don't have nice showers, not that big of a deal). They have a spot to store baggage if needed. It's on the lake, nice views but a bit of a walk to town compared to other places. I'd definitely stay here again

I had such an awesome stay at the campsite here I felt compelled to leave a review! Even more so, after reading a silly and childish "rape" review.

The WiFi is free, unlimited and fast. This is contrary to many hostels in NZ where you pay $5 for 1 GB.

The hostel has a warm, relaxed atmosphere and I've made some incredible friends here. In fact, I enjoyed my time so much here I found it hard to leave and stayed much longer than I planned to!

The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful, and the hostel is kept extremely clean. Thank you all for your hospitality!

Nottt entirely sure about the rape comment, bit harsh. It's a space where you put a tent out the back, not really sure what he was expecting..? For us it's just what you need. Comfy sofas, the kitchen is lovely, everything's nicely labelled, big fridge, all kept very clean. Receptionist is very funny and welcoming, even though she doesn't drink earl grey tea :) Location's a good distance to town with a lovely walk along the lake only footsteps away. For $20 worth it :)

Relaxed, clean and tidy. The steamers backpackers kitchen is big and eating area spacious. Great location right across from the lake.

Alright I don't even know where to start..
They charge 20 Dollars per person to put up your tent behind some shed where you think people would usually get raped. But then you think everything else is nice( because you paid 20 $ to put your tent on their property and you think that price has to have a reason).
Well let me tell you that it does not. WiFi is not working and the place is not nice at all.stay away from it
