Expensive, poor camp sites for tent and toilet s dirty. Ranger enforces payment every day and checks all sites around 7am!!

Beautiful campsites right on the lake. We were lucky enough to find one right on the shore and had some Eric views from our tent. There's plenty of room but there are only a handful that are relatively private.
It's very basic with only a couple of pit toilets. Some sites have a picnic table nearby for use which was nice. There's no one there all the time but a ranger comes by very early each morning to verify everyone had paid, and if you haven't they'll wake you up, so don't forget! Highly recommend a night here.response / report this review -

Remembering that this is a DOC campsite, so it's sparse. Offers excellent views of Lake Te Anau, with a large number of sites available to camp in. Many of the lakeside sites are well away from the main road, so road noise is minimal. There are two long-drop toilets available, one of which is wheelchair accessible. Some of these bays are a little wonky but level ground can be found after a bit of back and forth.

Gorgeous wee spot - limited campsites so first in first served. But a lovely place to stop for a picnic with the kids, and with a a gradual stone beach into the lake its a great place for a paddle.
