Lovely and just right. Not that new any more but everything is okay. Shower and water can be to hot!
Great location for doubtful sound cruise. You can walk to harbour. Clean showers & toilets, very pleasant helpful staff
I put 5 because they deserve it. But improvements can be made.
Nice kitchen with lots of utensils.
Quiet areas for camper vans.
All the people there were chilled and relaxed. Cosy lounge room.
Really stuck to a small track along the lake.
They even have a small place where you can take a bit of herbs for your meal.
To summarize, great family own camping
These hosts are so generous and this park is so nice and quaint. The facilities are great and the lake behind the park is quite nice.
Staying here 11 days in total. Great spot. Bird life is amazing. Views are spectacular. We love it.
My girlfriend and me were at the Possum Lodge in May and had a wonderful stay there. The hosts were really friendly and welcoming, even when we arrived late at night and supported us with catching a mouse which was an unwanted travel companion in our car. Definitely a recommendable place to stay with loving set up and beautiful nature around!
Busy but well kitted out campsite, owner was flexible and we negotiated for a single spot to share a tent and canpervan. Bathroom a bit cold in the morning and kitchen a bit too small for the amount of people. Short walk to the beach
Mouse invasion in our van at 2AM, followed by hours of trying to get the bugger out. When approaching the owner after a pitiful sleep, he was not only unsympathetic and uninterested, but accused us of either bringing the mouse in with us or simply making it up entirely.
Responding to our comments on the Campermate app, this owner even had the audacity to claim we blackmailed him for a refund, or we would leave a negative review. What we in fact asked for was a mere smidgen of genuine compassion, and to not be blamed for the occurrence ourselves.
Did we ask for a discount? Yes, followed by hearing, "It's not my problem," and "What do you want me to about it?" we asked if we MIGHT be able to receive ANY discount on the $34 we'd already paid up for a terrible night's sleep. Not one demand was made. Nor was any form of apology.
After consulting with his wife behind closed doors, he returned to end the dialogue with, "Mice are a fact of life in New Zealand, and this is not our problem." After he refused to offer us anything more than an accusation, yes, we told him people would certainly want to know about mice before they stayed here.
Consider yourselves told.
The place is totally a backpacker's place. The beds are small and bathrooms are shared. It has shared kitchen and wifi basically is limited to very small area not in individual rooms.
But Everything is clean. So from backpacker's perspective this is not bad at all probably. It's cheap and it's right next to the Manapouri lake.
It's probably not best choice for people who want to spend extra buck to stay in a relatively good place.
Also this is about 20km from Te-Anau so a fair bit far. Having said that I dont have anything against this place just that I dont like to stay in this sort of places.
