This place is a magical pit stop on the way to tongariro alpine crossing. The best feature is the shared kitchen. Always immaculately clean. Each guest has their own cupboard with their own plates and cutlery. The common area really accommodates for lovely interactions with awesome fellow travelers and exchange of ideas and experiences. There is also a pool table area with a TV. Beds are very comfortable. Room is a good size and the ensuite newly renovated. Great price fantastic location, beautiful grounds and lovely lodge owners.

Great service and location. Close enough to the main road for access but far enough for quiet rest. The room was small but clean and there was a great big community kitchen and lounge. Very comfortable and would recommend.

Sportsman's Lodge was a fantastic find. The staff were very friendly. The room was small but clean and lovely. There was a great common area for cooking and another one with a pool table, chairs and a fireplace, board games, and a TV. There was also a place to clean fish that you caught. I will definitely come back in the future.

Pleasant private rooms, yet still under $100/night - it's not surprising it's often booked up. Lovely old-fashioned lounge, complete with free pool table. Free wifi throughout the complex, which was fast at first, but that frequently we were unable to connect to throughout the evening.

The bathrooms are quite narrow, but I found there to be plenty of room and much prefer the space to be used for a bigger bedroom anyway. The bigger issue was that the bathroom door doesn't actually slide across all the way, so if you are sharing a twin room with a friend, one bed has a direct view into the shower!

We also wished there was a small side lamp on the bedside table, as the super bright ceiling light was a bit much for relaxing before sleep.

Just a 5 minute walk from the centre of town, though a park full of mosaic art. I highly recommend this motel.

If my review and photos were helpful to you, please give me a thumbs up 👍🏼 Thanks!

Okay place to stay over for trout fishing. Got the necessary to clean fish. Good kitchen set-up. Bed covers smell a bit dusty. Nice garden.

Very nice affordable place to stay. Nice gas grill for guest use, huge complete kitchen. $8 to use washer and dryer. Room had no screens in windows so it was either be hot or have mosquitos buzzing and biting. Need to have screens or at least have a fan in the room to keep cool.

Great room space, fairly modern, and provided plunger coffee and milk for the morning.
