A bit 'motel' like, and the rooms have a dated feel despite what looks like some modernisation (large LCD in the living area, new sofas and bedding, but old CRT TV in bedroom and dated bathroom). Rooms are directly on the lake, and I mean directly! The sunset views are epic. Parking right outside the room is handy too. There is a pool, spa, restaurant and bar too but we didn't use any of these.

Nice hotel right next to the lake in Taupo. Just out of the main town. Good restaurant. Good bar food. Good quality room. Parking on site.

Stunning view of the lake from the rooms. Beautiful setting for the restaurant. Brilliant chandeliers. Restaurant quite formal. Food good. Reception staff great. Quite far from the town centre

We found a lot of hair on our blanket, pretty sure they did not change all the bed sheets. Called the reception, a staff came and changed our blank and sheets.

While there were a number of good aspects of the hotel, we were very disappointed with some of the service and food we had here.
The good points: very friendly and helpful reception staff, a spacious and comfortable room and big bed. However, we booked into the hotel restaurant and paid a lot of money to have a very disappointing meal. The starter was good but the salmon main course was cold in the middle, with raw eggplant, a "creamy" mash potato which was utterly uncreamy, and staff who didn't seem to know much about the dishes. The breakfast was very overpriced - $30 for a very unexciting budget hotel style buffet. The bar staff didn't have much knowledge of their drinks list.
The bed was quite scratchy although nice and big.
Overall, didn't justify the expense.

The place looks cute and has a great lakeside view. I think all rooms have a view of the lake, but the rooms are pretty dark and not that clean. We found bugs in all three of out rooms.
